Randy Sparks and Becky Jo Benson, two members of the New Christy Minstrels saw my teardrops parked in front of my shop and stoped by to talk teardrop. These people are truely nice people.

I've had lunch with Jesus.

Actualy, I'm in the film industry and I had lunch with an actor playing Jesus. Besides that I have worked with hundreds of big actors, Directors and Cinematographers. There are also the numerous Athletes, Political and Influential People.

When I lived on Long island - I met Captin Kangaroo. Nice guy.

Down here in Gaithersburg - they use to have a Theatre in the round - like up in Westbury NY. Was droping my in-laws off at the local Holiday Inn and almost ran over Don Amechi. Boy could he jump.

Also - flying between NY and DC had the opportunity to sit next to Willard Scott - what a very nice person...................

He's almost a neighbor - he lives in the village (too small to call it a town) of Paris, VA which is just over the mountain from Front Royal. Back when I was still doing Living History I got a chance to do a morning TV spot with him at Sully Plantation. He's every bit as nice off camera as on.

I've had pizza with him. Back in the early '70s I managed the Round Table Pizza at the Marina in San Francisco. The producer of the SF production of "Godspell" lived in an apartment in the same building. He gave us free tickets to the show and we invited the cast to the restaurant for pizza and they all came! Many of these folks were from the original Broadway production including the guy who played Jesus though I forget his name. He was this huge dynamic presence on stage - off stage he was this quiet little Jewish guy.

I also forgot some Jimmy Buffett was shooting pool in a bar I was in in the 70's and then played a couple of songs. Dawn Wells (Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island) is/was a local and I ran into her a couple of times years ago. Randy Macho Man Savage and Hulk Hogan are locals and I've run into them a few times also (at different times). The movies "Summer Rental" and "Health" were filmed here and I knew people who were extras in both and met John Candy and Carol Burnette (at different times) from those movies.A guy I went to high school with, still a good friend, has worked at the swankiest hotel in the area for years and has literally met hundreds of celebs (nearly every big name music act that has played in the Tampa area and lots of others) but won't talk about them because of his job.

Lynn and I had the opportunity to go to the premiere in NYC to Clint Eastwood's MILLION DOLLAR BABY in Dec. 2005. One of the guys that spends a lot of time where the event was held was pointing out different celebreties there but a couple things I'll never forget. I was walking with a twisted knee and was leaning up against a counter when Morgan Freeman came up and stood next to me. That man has a lot of class and I've always enjoyed his movies. Lynn said to hello to someone walking by and their snoot went up in the air. When we were standing in line to get our coats when leaving, this lady behind us just started talking to us and we had a nice conversation, she looked familiar and after looking at the website, it was Margo Martindale who played Hillary Swank's mother in the movie. I asked if I could have brought the digital camera and was told not to but many others did, oh well! Clint looks about 10 years younger than he looks in the movies.

I had a chance to meet and talk to Austin Pendelton at my bosses house in Niles, Oh. Austin was born and raised in Warren, Oh. and his mom had a lot to do with the TNT theater, in Niles.
He played the weasley lawyer in MY Cousin Vinnie, and has played on Law and Order. He is the director of a play off Broadway and has done other movies and TV apperances.
He said he isn't a big name actor but if you live like "normal" people and not in a castle, you can do ok.

At the 2005 SEMA show in Las Vegas, someone bumped into my wife and said "Excuse me" we acknowledged him and continued on--I looked over and then asked my wife do you know who that is--nope. Hulk Hogan in his do-rag and shades. The stampede behind us was silly with people wanting his picture or to get in a picture with him. All he wanted to do was look at cars with his son, like the rest of us.

My oldest daughter went to the Fiesta Bowl the last time Ohio State was there. Her boyfriend was a manager for the team and a senior. She flew home and was seated next to this "old guy", and they talked a little. They wanted to get some people off the plane-too heavy, but no one moved, so they threw out about 100 bags she said, and they both remarked they hoped theirs was still on the plane.
He slept partway home and when he woke up she said what connector flight he had? He took out his ticket, and she saw his name- Earl Bruce- Ohio State football coach after Woody Hayes so the plane lands in Chicago and he is out the tunnel before her and she thinks- this old fart isn't going to beat me to the counter, he gets there first just fine, she comes in second-breathing hard. We laughed and I told her that all those miles running up and down the sideline really paid off, even if it was years ago.

I have met several famous people over my life.

When I was a kid:
1) OJ Simpson when he was the Hertz spokemen.
2)Bill Russell when he was the coach of the Seattle Sonics.

As an adult:
1) Dan Wilson of the Mariners. (I sold him his hardwood floors for his basement.)
2) Adam Eaton of the Philadelphia Phillies. (My brother knew him in high school.)
3) Grady Sizemore of the Cleveland Indians. (My brother played with him in little league baseball.)
4) Cheryl Crow. (I met her at a wedding before she was famous.)

Carol Baldwin and her daughter live about two miles from me, and they go to the church at the end of my road. Her sons (actors Alec, Billy and Steven) come to town for the annual breast cancer fund raising events in their mom's name. The 'boys' also show up in town every time one of their nieces or nephews has a momentous life occasion--confirmation, high school graduation, etc. I've somehow managed to run into all of them in the local grocery store during their visits...although I usually miss their appearances in church.

My nephews each played high school lacrosse with one of their nephews, and Steven and Billy both used to show up to root for the kids for things like sectional and state finals and sit with the rest of the parents. Pretty much just like regular people...

I got to hang out with Waylon Jennings on his bus back in the 70's for a few hours while the band was getting something to eat.

I met Willie Nelson several times backstage back in the 70's and then a few years ago I got to chat with him one on one about motorcycles a few hours before a show.

I worked a couple of shows [ stage hand ] on the road for a band called New Riders of the Purple Sage back in the day.

My sweet wife often brags about the guy she knew in high school who was in both the junior class play and the senior class play. He was the only guy in school who had a 1930 Chevie roadster with a rumble seat. She remembers how when she went out with him, they used to park under apple trees and shake the fruit down into the open car. Her date also tipped over 22 outhouses one Holloween night, often enjoyed smashing into trash cans in alleys, and later got charged with wreckless boating in his hydoroplane on one of the Wisconsin lakes.

This same guy spent 2 years in the Army, playing war games on the slopes of Pikes Peak and later dragged her away from her midwest friends, to the west coast. Some years later, she later became a private pilot of single engine airplanes, (so did he) she became a fantastic driver of high-speed ski boats and had 3 kids in the meantime.

He had the gaul to drag her away from her friends again, only to travel full-time for 8 years in a motorhome, all over the US. Later, he had a screwed up idea about building a one-off, all wood teardrop trailer, which she later learned to love and enjoy. I guess few have heard much about this guy, but she thinks he is the brightest star in her life. His name is..........Roly Nelson

PS, I was an usher for Bob Hope in the Spruce Goose hanger and met
Bob and his wife............does that count?
