My sweet wife often brags about the guy she knew in high school who was in both the junior class play and the senior class play. He was the only guy in school who had a 1930 Chevie roadster with a rumble seat. She remembers how when she went out with him, they used to park under apple trees and shake the fruit down into the open car. Her date also tipped over 22 outhouses one Holloween night, often enjoyed smashing into trash cans in alleys, and later got charged with wreckless boating in his hydoroplane on one of the Wisconsin lakes.
This same guy spent 2 years in the Army, playing war games on the slopes of Pikes Peak and later dragged her away from her midwest friends, to the west coast. Some years later, she later became a private pilot of single engine airplanes, (so did he) she became a fantastic driver of high-speed ski boats and had 3 kids in the meantime.
He had the gaul to drag her away from her friends again, only to travel full-time for 8 years in a motorhome, all over the US. Later, he had a screwed up idea about building a one-off, all wood teardrop trailer, which she later learned to love and enjoy. I guess few have heard much about this guy, but she thinks he is the brightest star in her life. His name is..........Roly Nelson
PS, I was an usher for Bob Hope in the Spruce Goose hanger and met
Bob and his wife............does that count?
