Hurricane season aint done yet! You folks on the Gulf Coast get ready to baton down the hatches and move to high ground -- Ida doesn't know it's almost winter.

Blizzards in the Rockies and a Hurricane in the Gulf. More weird weather.

thats exactly what I was thinkin. I would have a bug out trailer on full alert 24/7/365 living on the coast.

Looks like Ida is moving fast which should be a good thing. Gulf waters are pretty cool so Ida will hopefully loose some strength before landfall around Tuesday morning. Good luck Gulf coasters.

That is one good reason I live on the High Country. The only floods, or tornados that would hit here are not likely to do so in my life time. But I hope that Ida just gives up and goes the other way :applause:

It has already dropped down to TS levels. The offshore water is still pretty warm, but along the coast, it is down in the lower 70s.

Looks like Florida is going to get very wet, though. :rainy:

:disappointed:

It's my fault. Seriously, it is. Last week I breathed a mental sigh of relief (to myself) that we didn't have any storms this year and that I could relax and not worry anymore for this season.

Should have known better.

Tsunami

Postby eamarquardt » Mon Nov 09, 2009 3:05 pm

My brother lives in Huntington Beach (the original Surf City, ha) not far from the water. After seeing the devistating resuts of tsunami's recently I asked him if he was concerned. "Nah" he said, "we're pretty high up" (but not that high up IMHO). A week or so later he and a friend were walking not far from his house (and not that much lower in elevation) and they came across a sign "Warning, Tsunami Zone".

Now he's thinking, ha.

And, we have EARTHQUAKES too.

Cheers,

Gus

Postby laoutdoorsman » Tue Nov 10, 2009 1:03 am

speaking from hurricane country...i am about 50 miles north of nola..(new orleans)....i am not being too affected right now...my best friend lives near biloxi, ms...they are getting a pretty full effect...high gusty winds, and spurts of hard rain...i am getting brief gusts of winds(15-25 mph maybe)...no rain yet...but the northeast to east side of a hurricane are always the worst...

midnight mon/tue....if i dont respond in a few days, dont come looking for me...lol...power probably out...my power knocks out very easily...(i am quite used to it...)
mike breaux...its pronounced "bro".....
i think i should have taken notes along the way, because ive forgotten waaaay more than i remember...

Gus

How long has your brother lived in HB, I can remember some good storms back in the 60's that turned most of HB north of main, out as far as Golden West into a flood zone....people look at the cliffs and think they are high in elevation but it just ain't the reality for much of the area.

There is a reason that Huntington Harbor, and the wetlands are still there and not over developed like downtown and PCH.

I would pay attention to the Tusnami warnings, for sure!

I may live in the Inland empire now, but grew up on the sands of TinCan beach (BolsaChica), but that was a long time ago now.

 Ida is sitting right on top of us now. :Oh Brother: Nice and calm here.

We had about 12 hours of rain, some gusty winds. But it was such a non event....The Weather Channel and all its hype, must have been trying to make up for low rating season it had. Im so fricking tired of them and the media making such a big deal out of almost nothing now adays. :x :x :x :x
