Life today as we know it

Postby Gage » Sat Jan 05, 2013 9:05 pm

You know, life has become so easy that people don't know how to think things out or try and figure out something. You know, just ask the question and let someone else come up with the answer. How do you learn anything with attitude like that? Example: How do you get pictures into your gallery and how do you post them into a subject? How many time has that question been asked and answered, yet it still pops up almost every week.

I'm with you Gage. No common sense these days.

I understand your beef Gage. A friend (not a forum member) usually will email me asking when a certain teardrop gathering is going to happen.
I always respond with this link http://www.teardrops.net/destinations01.html You'd think he'd save the link, but he seems to ask again.
Maybe he's bored or thinks I need a purpose in life. .

If common sense is so common, how come so few people have any?

Yes sir, that was the question I ask. Many thanks to you for taking the time to answer it.

I wasn't pointing the finger at you. You just happen to be one of the latest. And I have answered those two questions with examples as others have many times. But nobody seems to take the time to try and figure it out on their own or at least try something until they get it right. People today are completely lost because mommy and daddy aren’t around to tell them what to do, how to do it and when to do it. Today people don't even know how to check their work. Most likely because they could care less because they know that they are not wrong. :o

Here I'll help you out with the rest of the problem you were having beings how you figured out how to get them into your gallery.

Now lets play a little game. Hit the Quote button in the upper right hand corner of this posting and then copy the coding I used for your photo and paste it in 'WORD' or something like WORD. Then go into your gallery and find the coding. I'll give you a hint, naw you figure it out.

There are many things that have changed over the last few years ... handwriting for instance. When I was in school (not that long ago,) we practiced our handwriting, were graded on form and legibility, and didn't use a typewriter (keyboard) until about 9th grade. My kids (12 & 15) were expected to type their work into a computer from almost day one of their education. I have insisted upon readable handwriting, and it has really frustrated my kids, but they are head and shoulders above their classmates (still under my standards, but I'm trying to be reasonable.) It's really sad when I get applications for summer jobs and take one look and throw them in the trash because they are illegible/incorrect/incomplete/etc.

Basic math ... what's 20% off of $10? Divide 60 M&M's among 5 kids? If your kids reach for the calculator on their cell phones, slap their hands. What's the change from $20 if the purchase was $18.35? Do you realize how many high school graduates can't do this !!! If you really want to see panic, walk into almost any store when the power is out and try to buy something when the register isn't working.

Back in the old days, before the internet, people use to ask questions, or for help face to face. Rarely would someone tell them to go to the library and look it up themyselves. Probobly would not call them a baby and ask why their mommy didn't do it for them. People back then were much more courteous for fear they may get poped in the chops for belittling or denegrading some one over such a simple request. But that was the old days. Today we sit behind our keyboards and feel empowered to run someone down , instead of just ignoring a question we feel has been asked to often. No one has to answer anything asked here.
It's a sad day when a new member comes to us with a new trailer they are excited to share with us and get this kind of a welcome. Just because they had trouble posting pictures. :(

Well Mr. Woodbutcher, this is not a 'Welcoming' thread but a 'Statement of Fact' thread. Some of the question which are asked, if they would just think about them a little, they would come up with the answer on their own. You need to go back and read my first posting in this thread once again.

And by the way. I used the picture subject only as an examle, nothing more. Your the one who's trying to make something out of it. I already told BobH that I wasn't pointing the finger at him.

I think every visitor should have to read through every thread, every help file, and all the rules, regulations, and suggestions before they are even allowed to ask a question. That would only take them the better part of a year with all the information here, and it would stop all these annoying, unnecessary questions.

Or maybe instead of that, we could ask grumpy people to stop discouraging new people from becoming part of our community, and Gage I'm not pointing a finger at you, you just happen to be the last grumpy person to alienate someone new.

Personally I have a lot more tolerance for someone asking for help than I do for someone who is so often negative.

Gage is correct in that common sense is missing on some of the questions asked and the fact that people just don't want to look thru or read alot of threads and answer their own questions. Instead they want answers asap and not have to put in the work to find it out. Just my .02.

Cliff

ps: Schools are not even teaching students to write these days!!! So why worry about spelling, thats what the tablet or computer is for!
In God we trust, shoot the rest and he will sort out!

I never said they weren't. Only some are so simple or stupid that a little common sense would answer them. They just don't want to take that extra time to solve their own problem. And just to bring you up to date, I too have asked questions in the past. But one thing you won't see me asking is what color should I paint my trailer? :o

And to think Paul, you asked me to be your friend on Facebook. It wasn't me that asked you.
