Using surge protector for power, would it work?

Postby KDOG » Thu Mar 29, 2007 5:10 pm

I'm thinking of using a good surge protector for my electrical needs. So would it work and what would I need? Obviously I need a good surge protector and the external plug. Is that a standard plug or is it a special thing? Also I could've sworn I saw someone here with something like a small "breaker" between the external plug and the surge protector. Would the external plug be generator friendly?

I don't think there should be any issues with your generator however maybe
someone else could confirm my thought?

Ok, thats it. Now I just gotta figure out what kind of exterior plug I need and how to wire it to the GFCI and what not. Thanks.

KDog the two strips that Steve is showing are GFCI built in. If you look above in Steve's sticky there are pictures of inlets that you hook to your trailer. Mary K did an excellent job with her elect.

KDog:

As Miriam suggests your inlet receptacle can have many configurations.
Some have cable for TV and a square shape. Some are round only for the
male plug inside.

Google search "Charger Inlet" or "Shore Power Inlet"
