Gotta hate it when stuff like that happens - Usually it shows up when you are just about to leave . You hitch up the trailer then plug in the light . . .and. . . you find that you have a short somewhere.

I feel for you. I just went through the same thing. Did a lot of unnecessary work trying to track it down. Turned out to be a bad crimp connection. It showed voltage at a meter, or test l.e.d., but when plugged into the trailer, the voltage disappeared.

Good luck!

Ok so with a muti meter when held on white lead on plug and brown lead it buzzes .. So that means that the brown wire must be shorted some where? Fuse gets hot hasnt blown but I am sure it would if left on.
Help I am running out of time

yes, continuity between the brown wire and the white wire means the brown wire is shorted to ground...did you remove the running lights first before making that test? Connected as you stated, the bulbs will complete the circuit and show the brown wire shorted to ground (complete circuit)
Remove all the running lights and test that again. If it is still shorted to ground, start testing further down the circuit, until you find where the short goes away, then the problem is between the last 2 points tested. You could spend a couple hours doing that.

Running a new wire would take about a half hour or so...I would run a new wire, and then fix it correctly after you get back, like rewiring the whole thing.

all lights a led so it is not as easy as unscrewing a bulb.. I think your right running a new Brown. I really suspect it is where it goes through the frame some where Tomorrow I will drop all running lights one at a time. And see what I can find

If your lights are LED, they will show conduction (and fairly low resistance) in one direction only.

If your brown to white continuity works with the meter leads in either polarity, you definitely have a short.

Try checking continuity between the frame and the wires and you might find which is shorted to the frame.

So I jack it up today plug it in and everything is working.. Let if off the jack and it still working. Now I know the problem is still in there. Do I take a chance and go for it and rewire it when I have more time"? I would have to pull the bumper the running lights and pull the wires through the frame the old wires would work for that... I dont know .

Turn and Brake work running lights are on a seperate circuit even if the fuse blows it doesnot shut down turn and brake. If I travel during daylight really wouldnt make a difference.. I am talking myself into it and fixing after the trip when I have plenty of time

The fact that is comes and goes could not be a direct short.

Do yourself a big favor and run a temporary ground wire clear back to the tow vehicle if the problem disappears it is simply a weak ground. Remember that brown wire carries the two tails as well as all the clearance lights and this greater load may cause the ground connection to break down.

It has been said on this forum dozens of times "99% of all lite problems are ground related"
