LED Lighting tutorial, What and How?

Postby Breytie » Tue Nov 08, 2011 1:04 pm

I see a lot of questions on using LEDs. I have quite a lot of info and experience on working with LEDs and feel like creating a tutorial. Now the questions is whether I do a few "ready to use" solutions or a "brew your own" guide? Or what would you like?

I am a total novice in the LED world and welcome this thread.

I am soon to build my 8 x 24 caboose and fully intend to go solar especially in the lighting department. I would like to install can style or indirect soffit lighting. My big questions is circuit control and staging the lighting for different moods from dim to bright reading. I look forward to any thoughts and help you can afford us.

I have experience altering lights to accept LED's In #1 and buying marine light fixtures that take a G4 and installing the arrays.

I used two conventional RV "porch lights" and added amber LED arrays using 3M VHB tape to hold them in place.
The only concern I have is the over voltage put out by the converter during boost phase. So far it has not been a problem.

BOTH, thanks. Even those who think they know everything may learn something different or new and we all could use any knowledge we can get; even if it is a "refresher course". I would say start simple and work up to complex, if you have the patience to do so.

Thanks again and.....We'll be watching!!! :SG
