Progressive Dynamics 4000 wiring question

Postby STORMRIDER151 » Thu Dec 13, 2012 12:33 am

I'm installing a PD4000 60 amp power converter in my build. I have it wired up per the installation guide but something seems to be missing. On the lower right side of the AC side there is a bus bar that is labled out to converter. It was prewired to the converter but nothing going in to the bar. The guide says nothing about a power feed to the bar. I'm thinking that this would be treated as a branch cirquit with a jumper from a cirquit breaker to the bar. Or am I completely off base. I currently have a 30 amp main breaker, Two 15 amp breakers going to GFCI protected cirquits and a 15 amp GFCI breaker going to the outside receptical. The box will not accept any more breakers. if I'm on target with the jumper should I simply come off one of the breakers with a 10 awg wire to the buss bar or call an electrician? I hope i've made sense. If I did it will be a first. Now all I need is a battery, a fire extinguisher and some marshmellows. Thanks for the help.

This is likely to be neutral bus bar "the In the AC power section, connect new converter neutral (white) wire to neutral distribution block and converter ground (green) wire to ground bar. Connect hot (black) wire to the existing AC branch breaker. If the utility pigtail was used on the original installation, two short lengths of 14AWG wire and a wire nut may be used to provide the utility pigtail."

Thanks for responding. This is a new install in my TD. I have identified the neutral and ground bars but there is a third 3 position bar to the right that has one wire(black) to the converter. I "think" it needs a power wire coming from a breaker. I have all breaker positions filled with one circuit each. Is this correct? And where should I go from here. Thanks my friend.

The directions are a bit ambiguous so I went out and looked at mine. The first slot should have a 30A breaker that feeds the rest and you can fit double breakers in those slots The wires then come out the bottom of those breakers and go to the trailer circuits. The side bus bar feeds the converter and I think has a bar coming up to top bar where the circuit breakers attach. You can see that in the diagram.
Call Progressive Dynamics they are in Michigan and the folks there speak English and make sense.

I called progressive and the tech said to either disconnect the converter wire and hook it to a breaker or run a new wire fro a breaker to the buss bar. That's what I thought but not being that electrically savy
I was a little worried about blowing up my trailer. Thanks for your help and have a great Christmas.
