shock question

Has anybody ever put shocks on a TSC 5x8 frame. It has 12" tires and slipper springs with 3" clearance between back of wheel and frame, But I would like to also go to a 13" or 14" wheel. I am building a my version of a Weekender.
All help or info would be welcome.

Can't help you with shocks.

For smiles, first check your profile settings and make sure the Always enable Smilies: is checked yes then when you do a post just cilck on the smilies icon that you want to use. Then click on Preview to see if your post is the way you want it before you click on Submit.

Generally you leave cursor where you want smilie

And click on smilie with mouse pointer, you will see a group of mostly punctuation marks, or colon and text and that is the smilie while you are in edit mode.....

Also be sure you do not have disable smilies checked in edit screen and in your personal profile...

not sure if it is a harbor freight but JP Lock did shocks on his. Should be the same process. Page nine has the shocks.

I think its doable, I just have figure out my top mounting bolt cause my sides are inside the angle. I figurre I will have to weld a bracket on the bottom of angle. bottom bracket I see can be done different ways with no problem. I'm mainly worried about shock length and angle.

WarPony, I like the bottom bracket, and I understand the logic of the top mount, but I think I would rather do as the Monroe kit does (the one I used on my trailer) and run the top bolt right through the frame, needing only a 1/2" hole in each side rather than that huge head-clearance hole on the outside. I realize that there's a reinforcing plate on the frame, but it wouldn't be needed with the through-bolt. Was having the head exposed on the outside of the frame rail a problem, perhaps for body overhang?

Yep, the outside of the body lays RIGHT against the frame so there was no room for a bolt head. I'm not worried about water getting into the hole either because each end of the frame (side rails only) is not capped off. Thanks for the comps on the lower shock mount......... I stole it from Gerdo, though.

Yep, the outside of the body lays RIGHT against the frame so there was no room for a bolt head...

There's always a reason for every design decision...

A slight refinement might be to use a socket-head bolt, which normally has a smaller head and does not need socket clearance around it, to minimize the size of the required clearance hole.
