HF wheel bearing question

Postby RogHodge » Mon Nov 16, 2009 11:53 am

I pulled the hubs off my axle and one side was toast.
I drove the races out and they appear to be the same. Are they? My hunch is that the bearing and race is the same inner and outer- I thought I should post the question here because I will get better information than the HF call center- if history is any indication. :x
Thanks

Rog-

From a similiar experience - the race and the bearing are the same. I found that if you call HF parts - tell them the model of trailer you have and order 2 bearings for each side (they come with the race) And don't forget to order some seals............

Good Luck

Thanks- I saw that before but failed to review it. I notice that you “Need 2 Bearings per wheel 4 per trailer.â€

Any farm store will have the bearings and/or even a extra hub. I broke down in full view of a mom and pop farm store and they pulled the entire hub assembly out from under the counter.

Rog, I don't envy you the HF bearing and seal "circus" that you may have to go through, but, I think all of us who choose to go with that frame must do it. I ended up not even using the el-cheapo Chinese HF bearings and bought all new high quality units at about $20 per bearing (race is included with the bearing) and, yes, 4 sets are required. But, I should be good to go for a long time with proper maintenance. The seals can be tough to find. Here's a link to a post I made which tells the story. http://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?t=30022&highlight=

Hope this helps, and Good Luck,
Mike

Bearings and seals are universal world wide, like spark plugs.. if you pop out the seal and measure it, any bearing supply place can provide it. It is not 'unusual...
