Mike...
Just musing...but the next question for me is "How light can I go on a 5 x10 floor?" and not stay awake at night.
Here is some of my thoughts....
I bought 1/4 inch trailer deck screws to secure the plywood to the frame. Seems to me, if you secure the deck to the frame with those screws, you end up with pretty much the composite deck/floor system that has to add quite a bit of strength.
In my mind, MJ might have hit on the right combination with 5/8 ply fastened directly to the frame with deck screws. I think that makes sense but...
I also have 20 yds of 4 oz of 60 inch wide fiberglass and 3 gal of epoxy. I was thinking of a floor with a 3/4 pine frame and decked with 1/2 ply glassed on both sides. I think it would be pretty strong, but wonder if I would save any weight with all that glass. It would evidently cost more but I have the supplies.
Thoughts on a lightweight deck? Thanks...Juneaudave
