Shock mounts?

Postby noseoil » Tue Jul 29, 2014 1:07 pm

I've been looking for a shock mount to add to a leaf spring setup. Monroe no longer makes their kit to retro-fit a shock to a leaf spring setup, at least I don't think so and can't find one. Does anyone know of an after-market plate to go with 1 3/4" springs (2" axle, 9/16" u-bolts) for the bottom attachment point on a small shock? Otherwise it looks like I will have to fab some with plates & sleeves. Thanks, tim

I just welded a mount to the axle. (ignore overlength bolt, I got a couple the right length after taking the picture)

Of course, that's assuming you have access to a welder.

Thanks Moose. I was trying to avoid heating the axle at this point (stress points, change of shape, etc.) and figured the lower spring plate with perch would be best for my needs. I have a buddy who's a good welder, so I guess he can adapt a plate on the bottom of the spring the same way. Just trying to see what's out there & some options....

Whoa KC, that's very nice installation! That's a bit more than I was planning on doing, but certainly a nice job. I'll keep snooping for brackets, but it looks like I may end up with a welded spring plate for the job. Can't believe someone doesn't make one I can find easily already, seems like it would be a slam-dunk to sell.

Here is what I found with a quick search. Not for your size of axle, but may help someone else.
