I feel I could usefully add that to my trailer tongue strength page, just to show what some people do to trailer frames.....

Is it just me or do the trailer tires look bigger than the jeeps?

That's how stock Jeep axles get such a bad rep for being so "easy" to bend.

Pure abuse.

If it didn't look so dangerous, and hard on equipment you might call it fun, otherwise it's pretty irresponsible, IMO.

Don't get me wrong. I love 4-wheeling and trail riding, and challenging my Jeep to see what it is capable of. It can be a lot of fun given the thrill of the unknown, maybe getting stuck; and I can understand if they were trucking along and suddenly ran into a situation where the trail changed abruptly, they got caught off guard and in over their heads; but this looks like a pure case of hot dogging it and going overboard for the camera.

Foolish lack of respect for the equipment, IMO.

Maybe I'm wrong and they have $30k - $40k tied up in D60 axles and high end suspension parts, but I still wouldn't put my camper and gear through that no matter how tough it was built.

Makes for an eyeful of a pic though.

Maybe I've just gotten old?

Yeah. It's a cool pic, and that kind of thing sells, but I think it is important to be honest and informative, too.

It would be dishonest (and perhaps liable) to project these "you're invincible with our product" images without also explaining the risks and/or care taken to mitigate the risks. Like, "vehicle specially equipped, do not attempt, professional driver on closed coarse, vehicle contents were properly secured", etc.

Sure, the hitch may survive, but your Jeep, trailer, and everything in them will be in peril, and you could die if you try this (high speed launch with no window net and presumably no EMT standing by.

It's not about big brother restricting everything, it's about teaching our youth that they are not immortal, nor super human death defying daredevils. Life has consequences, and if you want to do daring and extreme things, do them responsibly.

When I see kids doing 80 mph wheelies on there 150hp motorcycles in rush hour traffic with no helmets, leathers, gloves... just T-shirts sneakers and shorts, I'm impressed by their talent (I've been riding for years and can't do that), but dumbfounded by their utter stupidity, risking their lives like they are in a video game and can just hit reset if something goes wrong.

Sorry to have had such a strong reaction to your attempt to entertain us. I do appreciate your intent. Not sure what came over me. It's just the way I happened to react. Maybe it's because I know my Jeep and camper would be junk if I tried that, and I would be changing my shorts if I survived the train wreck that surely must have occurred immediately after that pic was taken.

 Peace.

Pure 100% photoshop. If you look, it's easy to see the crop line around the Jeep. The manufacturer is using fake pictures to hype their product.

Sadly, the hitch is the one part of the vehicle you can't see.

Sorry but that pic is not played with. Just copied it to my album and blew it up. No crop line, the shadows all match and the dust coming off of the tyres says it all.
Cheers

I'm going to agree with Paul. Not a chop.

Found this picture as well, showing compression in the rear suspension before lift-off.

And landing..

Image here is another that I found on Facebook, no real explanation, they claim it is a cj5, so that axle must be attached to the camper. it was posted by poison spider customs looking to get people to tell about their close calls
