Hello from TNpreacher

Postby TNpreacher » Tue May 04, 2010 12:40 am

I am a seniors minister with the Graymere church of Christ in Columbia, TN. I have always been intrigued by teardrop trailers. The best looking ones exhibit the Fibonacci Spiral (AKA God's mathematical signature). Just look at a ram's horn, a nautilus shell, or a human ear and you see the perfect teardrop. I am currently working on a 12 ft. woody teardrop with these divine proportions. I will share pictures with the forum later.

A friend of mine (architect) came to the same revelation (Fibonacci spiral) in looking at building a teardrop and he is thinking of painting the Nautilus shell on the side. Ascribing anything biblical/divine above and beyond the mathematical symmetry seems a rather large stretch.

I like the idea of a nautilus shell painted on the side. That would look very nice. However, I am convinced that it is more than just the mathematical symmetry. Even the proportions of length to width being as close to 0.618:1 as possible creates a far more pleasing design. We see the Golden Ratio all over God's creation. When God was pointing out the Leviathan to Job in Job 41.12, he mentioned the "graceful proportions" of that creature. When those same proportions occur in almost every plant or animal, it must be more than coincidence. It is like the signature and style of the Great Artist, God.

I'm an artist and love the Golden Mean. I think a teardrop in those proportions would be beautiful. Post some pics. I can't wait to see it!

So do Methodist - mathmaticics can only decribe what is seen (and even that which is not - ie, extra dimensions) but cannot unravel the mysteries and wonders of creation
