Been watching... ;-)

Well... just like everyone else... I got the bug and decided to build...lol

I used more information from this forum and have more bookmarks then I could count... but in the end, it all helped and I was very grateful that this info was here. Gave me the encouragement to build and not worry about what others thought.

I remember thinking.... I can do this... I got weird looks from friends and people I told... but I wasn't to worried about it. I knew what I wanted.

I wanted something that I could sleep in, and not sweat nor wait till 1am to finally be able to fall asleep because I was trying to cool down.

I wanted something that I could wake up, alittle anyways, go to the back, open the door, and there was the nectar of the gods ready to brew that most wonderful smell and taste first thing in the morning. That and the first drag on the awful smokes is something to look forward to.
Looking around at the fellow campers and knowing that the buzzing of the bee's, and the noisy birds.. and all of those crawling insects couldn't affect my sleep.

Popping open the fridge, or cooler, pulling out the breakfast "stuff" and cooking with delite the beginning of the day.

I wanted something that could make a little noise when I wanted (stereo) or watch some TV if I so desired. I carry movies on the laptop or have a portable TV to fall asleep to.

Now mind you, nothing at all fancy.... not like some of the wonders I have seen here. Holy smokes folks, some of you guys are wonderful craftsman... however, I know my limits and wanted something that fit my budget and skill and still meet my "needs" list.

So.... Armed with the stuff I learned here and other places, I worked with fiberglass for the first time. Wired up 12v for the first time that wasn't in a car. And ran 110 that wasn't in a house for the first time. Mind you, I've done most of this within their respective places, never in this manner.

I got the idea from this forum to use the same power distribution that an RV uses.... I sure didn't think of that, I was gonna do it the hard way.

You guys gave me the idea to use an old motorcycle transport trailer I had... to recycle it and put a bed on it....then walls and the rest. Wow.. and it worked.

We've already taken our first trip out and it worked great. I read on one post and I don't remember who or where..... but they mentioned that "you always find things to refine and improve and change on these builds".... and true to form.... that's what stage I'm at in the game for this build. I have so much left to do because of the "changes" its not even easy to think about. I made a list of steps and stuff when I started.... thought I was through with it... the joke is on me.

Who am I kidding, I've even been thinking about the next one I want to build... hows that for a sickness? lol

Alas, will be a while to enjoy this one and plan, and re-plan and plan so more.... then who knows...

Til then.... I posted my first pictures of the trailer and "stuff" somewhere's esle till I learn to post pic's here...

So... don't be to critical... :R Keep in mind my simple desires and my simple requirements.... and I hope to keep reading the good and great information on this forum.

Thanks again to all you folks who didn't even know you were helping....

WhtKnight

Did, you and your lady enjoy the time with your trailer?
Are you looking to heading out again?
What more could you ask for, that was the intension of the build was it not?
Well, you may have completed your build faster than most of us had decided what profile we liked the best.....but, now you can be "camping" when you want to take a break from building the 2nd one

Good job. Functional simplicity. Hope you enjoy your towable castle as much as I am enjoying mine. Hope to see you on the road.
I'll be right back, you be left front.

Thanks for the wonderful responses.

One of the things I forgot to mention.... I'm 6'4" and I have no idea how some of the spaces are in the other builds... but I was sure to leave myself plenty of room to stretch out... Inside cabin is 8ft with 1ft that can be used for storage if needed.

And yes, the first outing was fun... :D

I'm still working on a mattress..lol But hey, that was part of the fun eh? We made do and got plenty of padding for now..

Welcome to the forum,

Don't sell yourself short. You did some real slick things with your design. Example: How you rigged up the front with two doors housing your AC unit. Sure you are thinking about the next trailer but you know what....You are able to camp and that is better than most people.
