Illinois newbie small intro.

Hello from illinois my name is Dale and my wifes name is Kay, we are new to the world of teardrops and small campers. I have always wanted a teardrop but never had an opportunity to buy one, We are into old cars, hot rods and grand parenting, We were at a street rod event and a teardrop was for sale in the swap meet. Not knowing a lot about them I bought it and just last week got it home. After some research I find that it is a 194? tourette or tourer. I can not seem to find a lot of info on it. I would like to fix it up just enough to make it usable and safe, and also I would like to see what the original tailights look like. I believe it to be in mostly original condition. I posted a video on youtube under teardrop. I will probably pull it with a 1963 Buick Invicta wagon I have, sorry for getting so long winded.

:) You're not long-winded at all. We all like hearing someone's story.

Welcome to the forum. Good luck with your restoration, how ever far you choose to take it. Please post a link to your YouTube video (there's alot listed under teardrop campers)

OOPS, never mind, I found it in the "general" post section.

Ah yes Norther Illinois, I remember it well. Spent 20 years growing up in Rockford, but am now transplanted in So Calif. Welcome to the forum, you have come to the right place. There are probably some members on this board that have teardrops similar to yours, if not exactly like it. We pride oursleves for being a wealth of information, all you have to do is ask and your shall.....well maybe not recieve, but will be guided in the right direction.

Been planning a TD trip back to the old home town, are the colors changing yet? Miss those changing colors, my pretty high school girlfriends, (who are 80 years old now) and the old haunts of my youth.

Good luck on your restoration work, post pics and ask, ask, ask.

Welcome! We're from southern Wisconsin (live in Whitewater, used to live in Platteville).

The Illinois group has some great members (e.g., Woodbutcher-Steve, Pigcooker--Doug and his wife Nan, to name a few) who often attend the Wisconsin gatherings. Hope you'll consider that, too! The next one will be Cooler Near the Lake -- not sure if it will be the last weekend of April or the first weekend of May, but it will be fun! Anyway, keep track of the St. Croix gatherings as well as the Illinois ones!

Dale & Kay
Welcome to the group. You will not find a more helpful, friendly bunch of folks as you have found here. You can ask anything about teardrops, somebody here knows the answer, or can lead you to it. Please join us at a future gathering, we look forward to meeting you both. Yes you can come even if your restoration is not quite done. Heck you can sleep in back of your Invicta if need be. Hope your project goes well!! :beautiful:

Dale and Kay, welcome to the forum. You are at the right place for any help or information you could need. Hope you will join us at a future gathering. It's the best way to see a bunch of different trailers in one place. Congrats on your project. I split my time between Galena and the Chicago suburbs if you need any help let me know!

Dale and Kay, Welcome to the madness, Great place for information, a must do is one of Steve's or Dougs organized outings and the pot luck dinner. If you like camping and Eatin, you are in the right place.
Another good show in the fall is Morris Lyons Club car show. Lots of places to camp overnight in the area and huge car show and swap meet on Sunday. I have seen tear drops there in the past pulled by vintage cars. You would fit right in. Bill Illinois
