Hi, just wanted to introduce us.. I'm Joyce, from Mid-Missouri, been dreaming of building a teardrop for my son and I to go camping. We've always been tent campers, but really looking forward to this new adventure. My Son, 8 years old, loves cave exploring and camping.
We, do not plan on camp trips, on Friday afternoons, we might say, lets go, so we load up and off to an unknown destination. So, with a teardrop, instead of a tent, its, gonna be "hook up and go". All cleaned after last trip, reloaded, and ready. All my friends tell me that I'm crazy, gonna try to build a teardrop. I think I can do it, NO, I know I can do it. Looking forward to gatherings, and seeing teardrops that all have built. Well, I've rambled enough. Thanks.

Welcome Joyce and son,

Well get to building! We have quite a few women builders here. In fact in "General Discussion " there is a thread for " Lady Teardroppers ".
Glad you found us, and hope we can help you with any questions.

See you around.

to the playground Joyce and son. We have lots of women builders here and if I can do it almost anyone can. The information is all here and all the help you can ask for. :designing:

One thing---take lots of :pictures: :pictures: :pictures: cause it keeps the bubble oil level and the MadOnes happy. (that is Jack and Paul) Besides if you have a complicate question---showing is easier than just telling.

Enjoy

Welcome Joyce and Son,
Spending time with the children is what it is about. Camping with them is the best of the best, You will be able to succeed at building. Lots of great resources here be sure to use them.

Welcome Joyce and youngun. Looking forward to meeting up at some gathering and watching your build. We'll all help as much as we can. Most of the time questions get so many answers that you have fun deciding which advice to take.

Welcome Joyce
Glad to see another new member from MO. Hopefully we can get a gathering together in central Mo this spring. It helps a lot if you can see other trailers. Let us know how you are coming along and do not hesitate to ask for help. Everyone is more than helpful.

Hi Joyce, and welcome. Nothing could make a boy prouder of his mom than a camping trailer she built. (At least that's what I think) There are some excellent examples here from some of our women craftspersons. 8)

I really needed this boost to get me going. The encouragement is great.
My son, Zane, and I are ready to get started. For those Missourians, I'm from Bowling Green, and yes, looking forward to meeting lots of you at gatherings.

Joyce and Zane,
Welcome to the fun. You'll find the built isn't all that bad and there is a lot of help available right here. Look for gatherings to attend so you can see some trailers up close. Everyone is always welcome, trailer or not.

Welcome Joyce and Zane!

My belief is that determination is more important than welding or wood-working skills. I had lots of #1, and none of 2 or 3, and have a great trailer (at least in my opinion 8) ) to show for it. Looks like you have determination, too. It'll be a fun project for you and your son. You'll be very proud when he tells curious campsite visitors, "My mom and I built it!"

Have fun!

Completed Model

Postby joycecporter » Thu Dec 20, 2007 7:25 am

OK, I'm nuts. I made a model (from cardboard) of what I think my teardrop will be like. I really looking forward to this build. Thanks to all of you for the encouragement. I've been reading this site lots, and getting many good tips on different ways to build. I'm gonna take a combonation of all, and start my build. I'll by sure and post pictures as soon as I get started. Gosh, what a great bunch of folks!
