Just read through your entire thread. CUTE trailer! What I found especially intriguing was the smallest trailer you've ever built. Everyone thinks 4' wide is too small. I can't even imagine what they'd think if I went for 3.5'

.

Are you speaking of Sadie's dog house or eggbert.

Eggbert! But they're both so cute and tiny.

I'd already decided to build a 2'x4' dog house for my pup just to practice on all of the tools and machines I have to learn how to use to make my trailer. I'll do each step first 1/2 scale and when I've got the preparation and assembly down I'll cut and build mine.

If you like your welding class you could forget the "Plywood" all together.

I'll go look at the Roly Nelson page right now.

Vedette, I'll go look at Miss Piggy right now too but yeah, I'm definitely leaning towards skipping the exterior plywood and just skinning the foam board. Will probably do a luan for the interior ceiling and interior walls. Or I may still go 1/4" on the interior sidewalls just for more insulation from heat and sound.

I think you'll like results you'll get by skinning the foam board!!! I skinned the interior of mine with 5 mm underlayment and the exterior with fiberglass and epoxy. It is quite strong. The underlayment finishes up real nice and the foam board provides great insulation. You can also skin the exterior with canvas using paint as the glue. It really works!! Check out the Foamie section. We'll be glad to share our knowledge with you :D

Thanks for the welcome Mel,

At this point I'm planning on using an aluminum skin over blue board. But first I have to find out who sells blue board in or near San Jose, CA. Planning to call the company tomorrow for resellers. Have checked out the Foamie forum a bit but am planning on reading up a lot more in the build threads there.

If you're talking blue board foam insulation, I think Lowes sells it. The pink stuff is sold at HD. The problem you might find is that the thickness you want may not be available depending where you live. NorCal isn't that cold so the thicker stuff may not be available. In Reno it isn't too hard to find. Aluminum sounds like a good idea and I considered it but chose fiberglass/epoxy in the end. I may put an aluminum skin on the nose anyway. Just more protection. Try calling building contractor suppliers, someone suggested roofing suppliers and contractors too

Thanks for the tips atahoekid. Yes, the blue foam board. Unfortunately neither Lowe's or Home Depot sell it here. I'm going to call Dow tomorrow to find out if anyone in the Bay Area does. Crossing my fingers that it won't be too hard to find.
