Playing with Sketchup

Postby parnold » Sun Feb 21, 2010 3:28 pm

I'm still a newbie although I have already introduced myself, but I've been playing with Google Sketchup for about 5 or 6 hours and I came up with this. I know there are problems with the design, like the fold out canopy won't provide protection for the two rear mounted tables for cooking, and the mattress is probably the wrong height for the table, but it was interesting and I wanted to post it, partly to encourage other people to try Sketchup.. it's a pretty cool tool.

The interior table folds for access in and out. The mattress is full so room for two cozy people, however this design is a little narrow, only six feet wide.

Just for fun... comments welcome!

I put stilts on the trailer to simulate the correct height, wheels are something I have not tried to master.

Now that you've mastered a little bit of SketchUp - go get some of the rendering plug ins - to add some realism I use IDX rendentioner for some cool effects and lighting

Renditioner looks awesome, but right now the money would be better spent on my build! Something to hope for though!

Be sure to "play" around with the settings and lights - you can make for interesting effects. They are found in the components listing and also you can edit color with a right click on the mouse and scroll to IDX materials to make colors glossy or reflective
