Newbie in Austin

Postby jklepomis » Fri Mar 19, 2010 10:49 pm

Hey all

Been lurking a while; gathering information. Now I'm at the point where I start gathering materials. Semi-retired IT person, fly fisher, kayaker, and lifetime wood hobbyist. First build so I'm looking at the generic Benroy. Think I can handle the woodwork once I find the right trailer to get started on. May need some help with the electrics. If any of ya'll are in the area and know some local sources I may have missed, please let me know. - Jack in Austin

Welcome to the forum! I'm no longer in the area, but I did build my teardrop when I was there (in Round Rock). I got most of my stuff locally so hit me up if you need info.

Welcome! I got all my steel, aluminum, and wood locally. For many RV parts I use these guys:

They are in Georgetown. Anything they don't have in stock they can get the next day from their warehouse in Dallas; No shipping! I was really happy to find them as a matter of fact.

From one noobie in Austin to another noobie in Austin - Welcome!

Good luck on your build! We went the ready-made route... I have neither the skills, tools, or ability to build.
