New little guy owner from Maine

Postby deceiver » Sun Apr 18, 2010 4:55 pm

Hi, I'm from Maine and recently purhcased a little guy 6 wide sport trailer used. I'm in the process of gutting it and rebuilding the interior. This is a picture of it presently as we saw it in the fall when we purchased it

And here is the address of a rebuild website I maintain to show the progress of the renovation.

Thanks for sharing and good luck with the rebuild. Couldn't tell from your video that any work was even needed. Going to look great when you are finished!

"I" am a mainiac as well...been livin in "exile' fer 32 years in Sunny So.Cal. Originally from O.O.Beach ( near Portland)
Bought a 2005 Little Guy 4wide a couple years ago. Itwas a "salvage" deal. The body was OFF and a lotta damage everywhere ! I completely gutted it. took out the rear galley area and now it is OPEN. Put 1/2 inch bamboo floorin in it. Tow it with my 1965 VW Bug and take it EVERYWHERE !
I do VW shows all over the Southwest and take my TD with me to them all.
As fer ME..."I" have to watch the weight what with towin it with my Bug.
I hated the white crappy cielin and the cheap carpet on the walls & floor. I replace it all with wood panelin and I love it !
Build it the way YOU want it....and ENJOY it !
Welcome !!

Welcome, thought I would mention a camping trip up our neck of the woods, http://tearjerkers.net/forums/viewtopic ... 10eec9efca.
That was my first TJ trip last year, the tin can tourists joined us at Mi-Ti-Jo, it is a nice clean campground. The theme that week for the whole campground was a pot luck supper on saturday and a Boston Comedian.

Restoration nearly complete

Postby deceiver » Sun May 23, 2010 7:40 pm

I have finally nearly completed my rebuild of my little guy 6 wide. Again I'll give the first link to the original start post before the rebuild at:

http://web.me.com/deceiver6/Deceiver/Blog/Entries/2009/11/9_Little_Guy_Camper.html

The Next two blog listings are accessible from the first but I'll list their addresses anyway.

Joyce and I will be at upstate NY on May 10-13 at a Tearjerkers ADK gathering for our maiden voyage and shakedown cruise

:applause: :applause: Wow... now that's a lot of coverage with your canopy. The interior woodwork is fantastic too. Well done. You sure didn't waste any time. :applause: :applause:

Ps. Looks like you're going to collect a lot water in every dip in your canopy though. You might want to adjust that cause it will definitely come down from the weight.

I hear ya but I left it up for 4 days and we had one day of heavy downpours. The canopy stayed up and I only had to push water out in one place and that was just a little bit. The canopy tilts a lot to the right side of the trailer. It doesn't show it much but it does. I'll find out with my first shakedown cruise if it rains for sure.

Maiden voyage after renovations and first time out for us with this camper. Everything seemed to work. Things I found out:
1. After looking at two movies (inverter from battery) and lights and fans running at night the battery still shows full charge. I guess I won't have to worry about using juice between charging.
2. Things bounce around. Put the laptop on the bed. Find a way to keep curtain rods on hooks.
3. My 30,000 btu Camp chef stove heats coffee in a coupla minutes.. gee it works nicely.
4. Two biobricks will burn about 2 hrs.
5. Camp ADK tearjerkers are a great bunch of people. (upstate NY)
6. The small space of the tear can heat up from body heat during the evening even if it's around 55 degrees outside.
7. Grassy areas aren't necessarily the best, especially if it rains.
8. T@B trailers are pretty nice units. (we got a tour of a couple)

Since "I" took out my rear shelf area completely, I found that I had to "insulate" everything I put IN the trailer so it wouldn't: rip the window screens, scratch the heck outta my new WOOD paneling or jus plain slam into everything else.

Lotsa blankets to wrap thangs in and towels or what ever I could find to insulate the "missiles" floatin inside the trailer.

You're hooked NOW ! Once ya git to a TD camp out....it's all over ! now go have sum FUN !!

I also have a Little Guy, 4 wide that "I" rebuilt :D
