Hello...again!

I too have been lurking in the shadows admiring all of your beautiful tears. i had no idea there were so many talented people in the world. It really is inspiring. Well now it's time for action! No more lurking! I purchased the NT 5'x8' trailer yesterday and will start the trailer mods on Monday. My family and I live in Wilmington, NC a small coastal city in the Southeastern part of the state. We have always enjoyed tent camping but like others have mentioned, there's gotta be a better way - especially for my wife! Anyway, I am looking forward to getting started. Hope to talk with you soon.

BTW, I noticed there are a number of posts regarding image editing. Photoshop is expensive and probably overkill for most user's needs. A FREE alternative is Gimp, an open source image editing program which runs on most operating systems. Its a great program with pretty good ducumentation. Here is the link:

Hi Patrick,

Welcome! I am also just starting my build on the NT 5x8 trailer. Have modified it with diagonal bracing on the tongue, rear stabilizer plates and a rear receiver for a bike rack. Now it's time for me to make some sawdust.

Do you have a design picked out yet? I'm trying to keep things simple with the generic Benroy plans.

Good luck on your build! Remember, they like lots of pictures here. :pictures: :pictures:

Welcome, Patrick, from Sunny Arizona! How about photoshopping that napkin you've got your plans drawn on, and sharing it with the rest of us? :D
God Bless

Thanks. Lil, I'm going with the generic Benroy plans as well but I think I'm going to stretch some ply and go for more of an egg shape. I purchased Steve Frederick' Guide which has given me some great ideas on build construction etc. I like the idea of woody sides and an aluminum top which has a nice warm feel. Right now I'm re-reading Steve's wall sandwiching technique but I am a little puzzled about the wall framing. Any suggestions would be great. Cliffmeister, many years ago my girlfriend (wife now) and I took a trip out to the Grand Canyon. I was amazed by the canyon but I was even more taken with the light quality and atmospheric perspective. I remember watching a plane land in Phoenix and it looked like it was 100 feet away- very surreal. After my girls get a bit bigger we will definitely be heading back out that way.
