New in South Carolina

Hi all, my name is Ron.

I've got a 2012 Little Guy Silver Shadow on order! Should get it in another 3-4 weeks. Here is what I got:

5x10
Black sides, silver body
14" aluminum mags and fenders - deleted retro wheels & fenders.
window shades
stargazer front window
extra outlet in galley
front platform
comes standard with 12v, 110v and lights.

Looking forward to weekends at state parks and the occasional road trip. Just me and the dog.

I've had RVs of all types in the past, but the simplicity of this is appealing and hopefully, will be alot less stressful on me than the big RV thing.

My tow vehicle is a Nissan Frontier. Later, I'd like to get a hitch for my Miata and take this thing to some cool driving locales in NC/TN. I'm very knowledgable about towing, GVWR, tongue weights, etc., so no worries.

I started making a list of all the "stuff" I think I'll need for this new rig. I filled a page! So now I'm thinning it to the essentials. My short, short list is a cooler, radio, flashlight, lantern, camp stove, linens and maybe a canopy. I'm undecided on TV, AC, Refer, grill, screen enclosure. Some galley essentials like cooking implements are things I already have, but want to keep to a minimum. Any must haves for a beginner?

Welcome to the madness Ron from yours neighbors in GA. Its sounds good what you have picked out, and what you'll find out is you will evolve your kit. For us a canopie and screen and walls is essential to put around one side of the TD to have a place to change, a porta potty for at night and shade during the day. We also take a mat to put in front of the canopie side of the td and it helps keep the dirt out of your td. Hope to see ya at a gather our camping over in SC, we camp alot at the Corp parks on Lake Hartwell.

Cliff (& Sheri)
In God we trust, shoot the rest and he will sort out!

Hello and welcome to the fun!

I agree 100% with the canopy, although I have only once used the screen. Keeping the sun off the trailer is key, and it's nice to have somewhere to sit outside if it's raining.

It took me two or three trips to realize some things I brought were not needed, and add a couple of "essential" new items.
Enjoy!

Will be interested in seeing a pic, trying to imagine black sides with silver body????? You should also join the Little Guy forum, a closer road to help if you should need it.
