New from Spokane, WA

Hello and thanks for the great resource. I've already learned a lot. I'm rebuilding a 1980 Jayco Tent Trailer, trying to use as much of the design language of Teardrop Trailers as possible.

I've been a designer for over 20 years, mostly furniture, products, bath and kitchens. I do all my own work, have a full shop, by way of background.

i've been trying to document my build here http://dadkidswork.blogspot.com/?m=0

I might start a build thread later, but the short story is I have 18 days left until our first camping trip this year. The structure is done, almost ready to skin with aluminum. Then have to reinstall the beds, benches, build shelves and wire it. No plumbing, no lights, no stove.

Quick question. Planning on using contact cement to install the .032 alum. Don't want any penetrations.
Typical trim around the edges.
Ok?

Thanks!

Chris

Thanks! I'm eager to see how this turns out as well. All the teardrop and other small trailers are ripe with details easily copied, I feel likeI owe everything to sites like this that help keep the history going. I really. can't over estimate the help this forum has already given me to figure this out.

Did get it done enough to make the trip on memorial day weekend. Still a few details to work out, all minor.

Check the link above for the latest. Could not have done this without this forum. didn't even have to ask, the info is here.

one unexpected bug in the plan was the pullout beds being narrower than the new trailer front an rear extensions, but the tent flap covers it.

My assesment is it is really easy to convert an old POC tent trailer to something not ugly. Not a true teardrop, for sure, but right there in spirit, and a nice option for more than 2 people.

Still need better hubcaps, rear bumper, some internal storage details, and 2 pieces of trim installed.

Took ALL my spare timefor 53 days straight. Even rainout days were spent researching and shopping, no down time.

Thanks again. I'll post more detail shots when I actually finish it, still have butyl saueeze out to clean up ans such.
