This fall i rebuilt and welded up my old HF trailer. Its served us well but i want an enclosed trailer to haul stuff behind my hot rod. So the idea is to create a teardrop, and just omit the gally.
DOH my pics are to big, I'll have to resize em.

here is to a happy new year

What, You are building a teardrop to go to hot-rod events and leave off mini bar- trophy shelf - galley. You may not miss it ,but it is defiantly a great part of a teardrop.

Thanks guys,
Ive got 2 campers already lol. A 12' popup and a 24' travel

The main goal of this build is to haul my wife's mobility scooter around to car shows.
The trunk of the '50 is packed with just the sun shade and 2 chairs. I'd have room for a cooler and the portable grill with it.

I'm leaning twards stick built with FRP skin to keep it really light

Maybe a dropped floor behind the axle with a tailgate that folds down when you open the hatch for easy loading?
And a turn out grill that would fit over the scooter.
And put the galley on a slide to pull back when the scooter is unloaded.
Just some thoughts. Have fun with the build.

Vedette, Those builds are sweet! I don't want to color sand ever again LOL

Great ideas Kenneth, thanks.
I did add a headboard/shear wall with some storage nooks.
Still thinking of the rear area. I did add a mid-wall brace which I could easily add something to.

I'm still torn between stick built and skeletonizing plywood.

Welcome-
I'm also using a HF fame for my build, but with a 6" stretch in front of the axle and welded solid. I was going to build really light, but then I realized that you need enough weight to keep from getting tipsy from side winds and trucker turbulence. I'm using 3/8" plywood for the outside.

Just throwing this out there in case it didn't occur to you; you could conceivably have the scooter load thru a side door with the ramp stored underneath ahead of the axle, then build the galley more traditionally. Nice to have an instant horizontal surface to make lunch on or to display that photo album of the street rod build-up.

There was also a TD build on here somewhere where a guy made a forward compartment/locker to transport his para-glider; sorry I don't remember the name of it. It was a little bigger with the full size cabin and galley and the locker in front, but the side loading feature might give you some ideas.

Let me have a look for it... ah, here it is: http://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?p=1096651#p1096651

Hey, thanks for the comments

Yup, I've considered it, but the big scooter is #300 and 52" long.
Way too much tongue weight IMHO

Worse case I can add it later.
