AC choices

I just went with a window shaker 5200 BTU, in a wall mount. Intrudes less than four inches into the living space and cools it nicely.



From the outer wall it protrudes about 7 inches out. The wheels and fenders stick out 11 inches so it's not all that vulnerable and its on the non traffic side. The super quiet Champion 2000 inverter generator is plenty enough to power it and when running the A/C it operates on the lowest throttle step (of four), except for the starting surge when it revs up.

Yes, they are made from 1.5 x 1.5" x 1/8" angle, mitered and welded. The inside mount box is riveted to the A/C case.

This guy did not like the ClimateRight... They do have a 5000 btu unit now.

Shadow Catcher, you should make the conversion kit for people to buy a specific AC unit and then install.

I would buy one!

Wow, I was going to buy a climate right for my Tear. Now, I may have to do some more research, as it sounds like the support at ClimateRight is non-existent, and once you have the unit, you're on your own.

My solution....I mounted the window unit into the cabinetry and ducted it all through the floor. Works great.

Are you from down under ? Where cold air goes up & hot air goes down ?
What size trailer is your unit cooling ?

It's a 6x10. On a 100 degree day the area around the ceiling does get warmer, but a small fan does the trick. Also, I should say that my trailer is used strictly for sleeping only. We are rarely in it during the day so it usually isn't a issue. It gets plenty cold at night.

Seeing those holes in your flooring makes me curious about
the condensation run off. Aren't you concerned about it rotting
the floor?????

I've sealed the floor with a rubber coating and created a drain for the condensation. I'm going to spray the bottom with the same rubber coating.

I should note that this was a total experiment so nothing is certain, but so far it works great. The unit is accessible through the front in case I need to take it out for any reason. The floor is repairable, and the rubber sealant is under the cabinets.
