Extreme coolers

Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

Re: Extreme coolers

Thanks for the replies I have thought about this for a while and now I have done some finishing to the inside of my trailer with 1x12 shelving pine and now I think I am going to build a box around the ice chest I have now so it matches and hides the ice chest.
I am going to find a cushion at lowes for the top so it would double as a seat?
I think what I am going for is a way to hide the ice chest and make a seat and if it helps on the insulation great>?
I don't know if adding 2 layers of the insulation around the sides will do anything compared to extra insulation on Top of the lid ? which I think is where it is needed the most?
I have glued the drain hole closed because I did not like that it leaked, I know it will be a pain to empty but I am also going to go more with frozen water in Rubbermaid containers and use less bagged ice so I hope it won't be to bad ?
I also think I may build the box without a bottom so I can lift the box off of the ice chest rather than having to pull the ice chest out from the inside of the box ?
any ideas ?

If you insulate that box you intend to build, on all sides and the bottom, using reflectex or similar stuff like you see those hot water tank blankets made from, you'll be doing your ice the biggest favor in the world.

I own both a Yeti and the extreme 5 day coolers they work about the same . The place the Yeti coolers shine is ther toughness , you can sit on them stack stuf on them no damage ,that want work on the extremes.

That's pretty easy: Pelican has s/s hardware, is waterproof, is lockable, and is way more durable and tougher than the Extreme. It might not perform any better as a cooler, but it will survive rough treatment much better.

The Coleman Extreme is all plastic, has no latch, much less lock, and is not waterproof when closed.

If you need the Pelican features, you need the Pelican or Yeti or other heavy duty cooler.

Horses for courses.

Amazing that the Coleman held up so well - best bang for the buck.
Works great for your corona beer - if you don't wanna cool them in the stream.

If your out Glamping then the IRP cooler would be your #1 choice to keep those rib-eyes fresh.

Not bad price

What makes a Rolex worth $50,000 & a timex worth $50 ?
That makes me even more curious

Glamping requires an Arb fridge /freezer

And since that's how I roll, my 50 quart has been one of the best things I've added to my trailer :)

If you watch, trdparts4u does discounts quite often. In fact they're running a 10% off right now

Woooooo Doggie

I'll see your 50 and raise you 13 quarts,
got mine 2 years ago for $800 or $850 max ?
I also have been very happy with it , when I set mine at 26 deg F the frozen stuff stays frozen on the sides
And the other stuff stays unfrozen on top. It uses between 200 winter to 600 summer watts depending on ext temp
For those who wanna know soda because of sugar won't freeze till its around 26 deg.

They want $1037 now At your link Less 10% I guess ?

Nice :)

The 50 fits in the back of my FJ. 63/80 are too big

It actually stays there when we camp as we typically head out and pickup lunch / dinner / breakfast food everyday. Stays nice and cool while we we're out for the day :)

And no worries about funky chicken or things swimming from the melted ice

By far one if the best

When I bought, I think I got all accessories including slider, tie downs, and full cover with fridge for $1100-ish including shipping

Yeah. Super awesome piece of gear :)

Hey I'm with you brother

The only reason I got the 63 was because it has a little larger compressor.
I was told from the factory rep its a little more efficient on 12-24 volt,
because it has a converter from 120 to 12 volt first.

The 37 & 50 share same compressor
The 63 & 80 share same compressor

My logic was get the biggest compressor - smallest box
In retrospect its hard for an old guy to move even an empty 63q around
Maybe I should have gotten 2 x 37Q - if price was not so high,
right now 37q costs more then the 50q on Amazon

All models are powered by a Danfoss compressor and control system with the 37QT, 50QT and 63QT sharing the BD35F compressor and the 82QT with a larger BD50F compressor model.

The larger of the 3 seems to keep thing cold the longest, but even in out 90 degree + summer weather they will all keep things cold for 4 days before I have to buy more ice. The main trick is to put everything in good and cold to begin with.

I bought a used Waeco cf35. It carries as much stuff as my 60qt Coleman (after the ice). Stuff comes out dry and cold, and I have no problem returning stuff to the fridge when I get home. After a long weekend with a nice chest, things are either too wet or beat up or just not cold enough to be comfortable putting back in the fridge.
