While I have not done it yet, I was thinking of adding some 3/4 board where the insulation should go to act as a secure point to screw in to. That is 3/4 and I hope to add another 3/4 in over that of foam sheet. I have done this in home construction before and it saves the need to find the "stud".

The center cabinet in my setup us secured with a 2x2 angle Iron with holes drilled in it on both sides screwed into the floor. I built my own bases for the two cabinets on the ends out of 2x4's that are also screwed to the floor. The sides of the cabinets are also screwed into the walls of the trailer. The outer cabinet by the fridge is also screwed into the front of the "V" to a 2x4 I ripped a 30 degree angle on so I could screw to the side of the cabinet and angled part of the "V." If you look close at the cabinet pictures you can see the angle iron and angled 2x4 in a couple of the pictures.

I got the rear stabilizer jacks welded on last night. Also, just as a warning to any one else, the factory undercoating that H&H trailer sprays under their trailers is extremely flammable... so be care full if you have to weld anything to the frame.

Well that makes me feel better that I'm not the only nut case
That uses hurricane straps to secure his cabinets to the floor and walls
I even screwed the cabinets to each other
I have a feeling we are going overboard a little

The jacks look good, however mine scraped on the driveway ramp so OTTCT 2.0 has none
At this point.

Not that I know what I am doing compared to many experts here... My cabinets are all upper kitchen cabinets from Ikea. They are made to mount on a hanging rail that ties through the back into the sides of each cabinet. I ran the rail for the upper cabinets and am hanging from that, with a 2x4 "ledge" that they sit on. I will also add in an L bracket on the bottom to keep it secure from twisting on bumpy roads.

The lower is attached with the same rail behind it, and then some longer pan head screws through the base into the 1x2's that lift the cabinet off the trailer floor (and allow the full height/width doors to open without scrubbing).

I was limited to upper cabinets due to depth (trailer is only 15" between the side door and the front of the trailer) while a standard base cabinet is 24" deep. Also, due to my shorter trailer height of 5'5", and that the work benches will be nearer to a standard desk height of 31", the upper cabinets also fit the bill at 30" tall instead of the standard 36" tall that base cabinets are. Unfortunately on my base cabinet, this meant nothing with drawers (which I would have preferred). The plus side is Ikea cabinets are fairly sturdy, inexpensive, and look nice. Most of all, they are better then anything I could craft myself.

Well, after looking at the quote I got to have a pro put in the counter top ($250ish), and seeing that I could get an 8' long chunk of counter top for $49 from a big box store. I decided to try and tackle this myself. I first took some measurements then cut out a patten from plywood to double check the fit. I made a couple modifications and then transferred the plywood pattern to the counter top. I cut out the straight lines with a circular saw from the back side and did the radius' with a jig saw. I was surprised at how easy the laminate cut and it left a nice smooth edge also. I also got my 3ft LED light strips mounted above the counters this weekend as well. It was nice working in the air conditioned trailer also since it was a hot and humid weekend.

Added some weight to help set the construction adhesive and keep the counter top flat against the cabinets.

Looks great!

Did you use any screws to mount the counter or is it just adhesive? I have two cabinet doors that I am looking at making into a counter, but not sure that the adhesive will be enough long term.

Thanks!

I did put a few screws in also, but not as many as I would have liked. It is a good idea even in houses to put down some kind of contact adhesive because when you have a row of cabinets screwed together the top will never be completely flat, so the adhesive helps to fill in the gaps to make it a lot more solid.

Well, I finally spent the night in the trailer last weekend on an air-mattress. I've used it a couple times already, but this was the first time I was far enough away I needed to stay in it. Went pretty well, seems like it might be nice to have a little more cabinet storage, and I need to figure out a way to keep the fridge from sliding out from under the acounter. Also, before I left I got my powered roof vent installed and most of my aluminum trim on the inside to hide the panel seams.

cornfused, Howdy;

You could use a small/short 'L' bracket screwed into the deck ... ?

I think I will screw a leftover piece of the aluminum trim I have to the floor to secure the fridge, looks like it will be just about the right size too.

Now, to get peoples minds working. I need a winch mount in the trailer. Either something easily removable, or mounted out of the way. My ideas right now are to make a mount that will double as a shelf above the counter bolted to the V in the front of the trailer (the V front is beefy, 1x1's every foot) or cut a hole in the floor, and install and vertical "reciever hitch" bolted to the frame cross members so I could easily remove the winch when not needed and put a plastic plug over the hole.

Right now I am using the e-track as an anchor point and 2 2x4s across the trailer. It works, but it's a pain to stepover and remove.
