They are leaving there in droves...but for the losing proposition silly speculators. It will all come collapsing down soon. Gov. Moonbeam Brown will see to that. Still, I wish you CA folks well. I hope it all works out. CA is a truly beautiful state to VISIT.

Hey, thanks for the tip on the 4" deck plate penetration. Should work for my future a/c conversion from what I have.

Summer life in South Lake Tahoe is cool. Glad to be here. Got the CT, cameras, telescopes, guns, ammo, to keep me occupied. Heading to the Carson City range next week to get some trigger time in. Been doing lots of hiking and bird photography. If the summer evening thunderstorms would quit I could get some great astronomical observing time in via my TMB 92L apo telescope too. Oh well, one day at a time.

Been showing our CT conversion to Mom's neighbors (need to do so considering it is parked on their street). They are surprised and interested in Don & Christi's stealth CT conversion project. Gotta love the interest in something so seemingly uninteresting, I mean a cargo trailer? Come on. Who could get excited about that?

Got way off topic. I apologize for that. I will get back on topic.

We are away from home and doing some intermittent camping while away on an extended stay. No work/progress on our CT conversion to post but we are using it (30 days now away from home now) and it is working well for us in spite of not being finished yet. Be that as it may, it is campable. Still looking for suitable moulding to go top and bottom where the hammered tin backsplash meets the galley countertop and overhead cabinets. Again, any thoughts, suggestions, or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Don , there are a lot of decorative foam moldings that could be used for decorating the countertop ceiling , etc. just paint the color you want and it’s good .... waterproof too .. and Light ... Short pieces should be relatively inexpensive compared to wood or metal trim ... just an idea ...

With regards to decorative foam moulding I think I know what you're referring to but am not 100% certain. Can you provide any links to examples? This is something that would be found like in a crafts supply store?

As a former Cali-Napa Valley boy i will only add that you couldn't pay me to go back to that state (though the Napa wine country is BEAUTIFUL!) . . . i also spent many weekends and vacations at our family's cabin at King's Beach-Lake Tahoe back in the 1960's & 1970's...and several summers in the early 1980's helping a Land Cruiser club out of Reno clear parts of the Rubicon Trail. Fun Times.

Best wishes on the continuing adventure in the CTC.

Thank you for the kind words, thoughts, and we are pleased that you find value in out build thread. Also, welcome to the forum!

You, like us, will likely never return (to live) in the state of CA. A nice place to grow up in when we were growing up there in the 50/60's but the Northwest is now our home and we have no desire to return other than to visit family still there. There is so much undiscovered country in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia that is close enough to us to be explored. Once we get my Mom situation straightened out our next goal is to make the Oregon coast in our CT. We have been there a couple of times, but only passing through, so we want to spend some camping/CT time there. Rainy it may be but it is so beautiful.

I feel for the poor CA State worker... Not!

Sorry for not getting to San Jose but things took a turn for the worse with regards to Mom. The pins installed in her hip ain't working so this Friday we're taking her back to hospital for hip replacement surgery.

Summer here in Tahoe has been very nice but we are not looking forward to wintering here too, but it looks like that's what we'll be doing. Trying to make arrangements with Mom's neighbors who winter in San Diego to park the CT in there driveway here in Tahoe for the winter. We have to get it off the street before Oct. 1st for snowplow clearance. If we can't arrange that then it is haul it back to Boise for the winter then zoom back to Tahoe to be with Mom. Juggling juggling juggling. Weird scenes inside the gold mine.

I started out gluing the overhead insulation in place using some crap recommended by Home Depot for the purpose. It stuck for about two days then didn't. I came out to continue working on the overhead insulation a few days later and the two pieces I had put up were laying on the CT floor, and that was after spreading the glue, then pressing the insulation pieces in place using an automotive jack and a 2x4 to hold the insulation pressed against the CT aluminum ceiling (see pics in my album). After those first two pieces didn't stick I realized it was better to simply cut the insulation slightly oversized then force fit in into the space between the CT metal frame rails, and it stays in place. In the few cases I did later glue smaller pieces in place, because I didn't get it cut quite correctly/oversize enough, I used Liquid Nails glue bought from Home Depot. That stuff sticks anything to anything! Be aware that there are several types of liquid Nails for various applications. If I were at home I could tell you exactly the type I used but, alas, I am not at home so check the labels of the various types to ensure you get the type best suited to gluing insulation in place i.e., something that will stick plastic/styrofoam to metal. You only need to hold the insulation board in place long enough to get the ceiling paneling put up. Then the ceiling paneling will hold it in place (again, see my album).

This is me as shot... oops... not shot literally i.e., meaning pic taken by Christi at our hiking off point at Taylor Creek Visitor Center, South Lake Tahoe on the CA side of Tahoe (Mom lives on the Nevada side of Tahoe). I am decked out in my Earth Day T-shirt (courtesy of the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, my employer before I retired, and no I didn't get it for free. I had to pay $15 for it. All proceeds went to some environmental cause of which I know nothing) with my beloved Billingham camera bag (made in England), a fabulous bag I have had for 20 years that carries my Leica M6 and Ricoh GXR M module cameras.

Taylor Creek is an incredibly beautiful hiking area with trails for all levels of hikers, meaning those that just want an easy walk to far more strenuous hiking trials to remote sites. We visited Taylor Creek twice in the last six weeks. First time we took an intermediate hike (about 2 miles one way) to some great historical sites and then another day took the easy walk (about 1/2 mile) to visit the submerged fish canal (one can view the fish below Taylor Creek in their natural habitat). Truly a beautiful National Forest Service Park that we all should be very proud of.

I did not know we still get any snow up there, with all the heat we are having in the last year.
I was under the impression we barely had snow last year at all ?
