7 X 12 V-Nosed CT First Conversion

Postby James06 » Sun Apr 20, 2014 5:11 pm

Ok, this will be my first conversion attempt. I'm not sure if this is the right place, so if it's not, please feel free to move it to the appropriate section. I've bought a few things, but the trailer is not here yet :( . So far I have purchased an Atwood 55 amp power distribution/ charger, a 30 amp cord and power inlet, 12 volt camper lights, outlets, 3 wall cabinets I plan to use as floor cabinets, wire baskets for shelves, D rings, cots. Here are a couple of pictures of some of the stuff.

Looks like you will be ready to roll the minute your trailer is done. When do you pick it up?

It's supposed to be in between Thursday and Monday, but the dealer has to install the bed bolts. He charged $5 each for installation, which is better than me crawling around under the trailer since I'm fat. I went with bed bolts instead of traditional tie-downs because I want to be able to have a smooth floor when I'm camping. He will countersink the bolt head so they are flush. I'm having 6 put in as tie downs and 4 where my wheel chock will go for the bike.

Hi James,
I am curious as to what brand of CT you purchases in TN?

Thanks,

The trailer is in! I rode the bike up there this evening so they could get the chock position right. They are putting the bed bolts in tomorrow and I should be able to pick it up Thursday or Friday.

This is a possible location for the cabinets

The ceiling is pretty flat.

I put a coat of primer on the floor. Tomorrow will be a coat of two-part epoxy, followed Saturday by clear epoxy. My wife plans on taking the dog with us, and I want to make sure the floor is "mistake-proofed".

The floor is painted with 2- part epoxy and a clear coat. I will have to touch up a few spots, but I will do that later.

That's my son-in-law and daughter looking at the trailer. We also added wire baskets as shelving and started painting the walls with a gallon of paint we got at Lowes on clearance. They had mixed the wrong color, so we got a gallon of $45 paint for $15.

I haven't posted in a while, but have an update. The wiring is mostly pulled, with the 12 volt lights installed. I still need to install the outlets and hook everything up to the converter. I will post some pics later.

We now have electricity. I also had a friend bring me enough foam to probably insulate the ceiling. I will porbably do that Monday and start on the countertop. I amu using poplar that my uncle sawed into boards. I found some with a beautiful grain. I will try to post pictures tomorrow.

Looking good. Are you going to add AC, water and all that.. or just basic place to sleep out of the weather?
