A quick look at my place (Geelong)

Postby Downunder Dave » Sat May 09, 2009 1:29 am

Welcome to my place. Geelong is a modern regional city situated on the shores of Corio bay in Victoria, Australia. It is 80ks from the state capital Melbourne and has all the facilities of the of the much larger capital city with out the hectic pace.
Geelong provides its some 200,000 population with an ideal lifestyle and excellent climate. It is a perfect base for travellers like us, it is only 20mins to Bells Beach the world renown surf beach, 40 mins to the sub tropical rain forest of the Otway Ranges, 30 mins to the start of the Great Ocean Road, 4 hours from the snow skiing in the high country (winter months) and 4 hours in the other direction puts you in the Little Desert National Park. Talk about being spoilt for choice.

Hope you enjoy a quick look at my place. We look forward to seeing yours.

Dave, I fondly remember my short time I spent in Australia. I was down in Melbourne on business in the mid-90' and on the day before flying out, I rented a car and headed down the Ocean Road to the Apostles. I think somewhere around Geelong I stopped in at an animal sanctuary to have a look at the Koala's (stoned on eucalyptus). But I think what I remember the most was stopping for gas at night on the way back just outside of Little River. I bought a cold beverage, and stood outside enjoying the moment. The sky was clear revealing the Southern Cross, and on the radio was Pink Floyd Wish you were here. A memorable moment to last a lifetime.
Thanks for the photos!

Looks like a terrific town and area.

Friend of mine and her husband moved from Denver to Melbourne and haven't looked back. They love Australia.

Think I could happily trade DC for Geelong.

And what an interesting name for a down.
