I got me a Sears JC HIggins 710.74001 made by AGM or one of it's successors, probably in the 1960s. When I got it, it would "hiss" a bit when pumped up and valve turned on. no gas would come out. Then it even stopped hissing. ( yes there was pressure

) So i tore it down today. Generator opened and the cleaning needle works. Pulled the fittings out of the font. Pulled the pickup tube off and pulled the needle valve out and freed it and the spring up. The needle fits in the jet and seems to move when the valve is turned.
Put it together and now it not only hisses it spits like the dickens. Light it up and there is way way to much gas no matter what I do with the on/off valve.
Anybody have a clue? I am getting above my pay grade.
The vent is in pretty good shape and font is not to bad. I hope I can make it a burner. If not, drill out the vent stud hole to fit it to a 242 and make people wonder.
