Its a 5120. It takes a special canister of propane that Coleman no longer produces. There are many nice shinny ones on ebay, but alas no fuel. There are however some very creative conversions one can do. Over on the CCF forum dudes are converting them all the time.

I converted a picnic stove a couple years back. Works well, but doesn't burn real hot, not so good for boiling a few quarts of water for spagetti.

So does that 5120 use the same canisters as the picnic stoves?

Seems I have a few cans. May have to put a 5120 on the must have list.

In a search for the sticker/plate for my 275 (for behind the valve knob...for a 5/76 model, speaking of going BOOM!) I cam across more stuff than I ever needed to know existed..or maybe I knew they existed but really didn't need to know the dates and specifics....

Now I want a Coleman made Sears lantern..one of the green ones...

I never did find the sticker I need. Fell into a bunch of stuff I want but don't need...but anyone have any leads on finding that sticker/plate for my 275?

Nope. It's the one behind the knob. But thanks for looking for me!

Fell into ebay...I'm convinced Coleman did not make any lanterns or 502's in 5/65. I think the Company shut down for that month. I'm just sure of it!

But that's another tangent...

Did we do good?

Postby nevadatear » Fri May 18, 2012 5:54 pm

We had something unusual in our little burg last weekend, an small estate auction. Randy and I went out and couldn't resist. Now, we are not becoming collectors, it was just too good to pass up. Four lanterns and a vintage first aid kit for the nurse for $25. Here is what we got before I washed them up a little.

One at a time. We're going to keep this single mantle. It matches the trailer. It needs a screw (not a nut) on the top to hold the top in place. Anyone? I lost my paper that I had the model and age. I think this one is 1948
Image
This one is says 3 3 on the bottom and is in great shape
Image
This big hat is 1947. The fount is in pretty bad shape and has no globe. Maybe useful for parts.
Image
This one is also in great shape, but it is 1974
Image
We figure we will keep the single mantle 242, give away one at IRG raffle, maybe offer one to a real collector for the price of a tune up on the one we want to keep. Any takers? Did we do good?

You did very well on that buy. You can't get the 242 alone on E-bay at that price. I really like the first aid kit....Doug
