Coleman Keepers Campfire come on in!

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

Postby starleen2 » Tue Dec 27, 2011 8:29 pm

a lot depends on condition - have paid 30 bucks for a lantern - but it was a good one that I wouldn't have to do any work on.

I have large news. I have worked on my tear 20 hrs in the last two days. Sharon was right when she said the devil is in the details. I now can confidently say I am 99 % done. All wiring is done and working. Doors are complete with trim and weather strip. AND tonight I am going to Driveway camp in it for the first time! It has been a long haul and now its done. All I have left is latches for the galley lid. Everything else is optional.

Nice looking tear!! Can't wait to see what fenders you put on. Love the wood inside.

So how did driveway camping go?? Warm enough? Get any ideas of things to do differently?

Wow! Sorry I didn't see this last night to wish you good luck. I'm sure you thoroughly enjoyed yourself as the rest of us did on our first night. It is hard to explain, and maybe not cherished enough by some of us, but the first night is a real accomplishment!

Congratulations :P

Kirk....it looks great! Yup...details take time...but don't get complacent and blow them off....that's what makes the package "whole". Short of that...it's always..."I'm gonna do this or that"....just get-R-done! You got time before the Dam, and I'm counting on seeing it done then. If not...I will Razz you a bit! Doug

I bet he's got his lanterns all lit and is still working on it...can't wait to see how it looks with the fenders and lights on.

Curious about the galley and what he's put in it. Kirk seems like a guy who would not fall short on the details. He may get it rolling for the Dam, but he'll finish it out.

Just looking at the detail on his non-traditional stove recently was amazing. I think he'll do just fine on his tear.

Tomorrow begins a special time for me - Its the official weight loss countdown - I need to lose about 20 Lbs. So I'm thinking about exercises I can do with Coleman stuff - like arm curls with a gallon of fuel, etc - what else can you guys come up with??

I did get burnt on this build. So maybe I sped through the finish. Its not teardrop time for me I dont have "spare time". So raz me I can take it. My brother stared at all the rough details. Bring it on.

I was just surprised you didn't paint it Coleman green and put a big replica Coleman label on the back!!

Congrats on getting as far as you have on your build. Looking good. Hope it was nice and warm in there for you the other night!!
