"Geesh Zach, you are totally infected with lanterns now!! There's no turning back. No cure, no immunizations. Soon, you'll be driving around aimlessly looking for yard sales and abandoned lanterns"
What he said....
So it just jumped out in front of your car...huh?

It's all over now.

Enjoy the ride!

Great job on cleaning up those lanterns Zack! :applause:

You have definately been bitten by the coleman Bug.
Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind? Ask yourself these simple questions every time you are in doubt about any action.

That '65 220F isn't a September one by any chance? I feel the need for a birthday lantern. Found a September '65 200A on Ebay, but the schmuck wanted $75 for it. Not even on a cold day in you know where would I pay that. Even though the 200A is what I really want. I'll just have to keep looking (for that and the waffle dogger).

Zack, you did a really nice job on those 2 48s. I really like the 220Ds and the 228s of course. The only better ones are the ones that the pump screws in instead on those 2 little screws or the blasted clip. I have a 220E from about 1953 or so that has probably only be fired up once or twice. Font so perfect I have not dared to open the fuel cap as then will have to replace the gasket and no way can one keep from chipping the paint on the screw. So that one stays in the original box and i only tell people about it.

You only need one lantern/stove to be a coleman keeper. Whats makes you a keeper is you light up your device for no reason other reason than it gives you enjoyment.

Scuse me, need to light up my 220F

Re: Zach's Lantern Thread

Postby absolutsnwbrdr » Wed May 16, 2012 1:49 pm

Been working on cleaning up my $15 pair of yard sale lanterns over the past few days. Still waiting on a valve for the 200A, but that didn't stop me from cleaning everything up and reassembling.

After the whole tear-down and clean-up (with vinegar bath, steel wool, and Blue Magic), they turned out pretty nice. The 200A (1-1955) has the ceramic burner cap and the original green sunrise globe. The globe lettering is really faded which is why I didn't even notice it before, but its there. Aside from the missing valve (a replacement is on the way) and the nickle sized paint chip on the fount it's pretty nice.

I know the 220F (11-1965) is about as common as they get, but I'll hang onto it just for the heck of it. Its pretty decent other than the paint missing in the front.

200A before...

And both of them after some much needed TLC...
