does it have to be a 2 burner suit case one?

Yup you just need a standard whitegas 2 burner stove, some paint, and your imagination. Stove MUST work, and close up. Decorate it anyway you want. Take a couple of pics of it and pics of it working. We have until December 31st I think to get it done.

Actually December 23. That gives me the week after Christmas to get the poll set up for voting. I edited my sig with the link to the rules so folks can find it for easy review.

Well, Randy, If you need that long, maybe we could get another contest going next year. But let's see how this one goes first. :D

Three burners are cool but take up lots of space. One is a must.

I picked up a stove, but now I've realized I've never rebuilt a stove before. Do they require special heat resistant paint? or can I use any ole rattle can paint?

Im going to be using automotive engine paint for the body and high temp on the burners but maybe the pros will chime in on this since this will be the 1st stove I refinish too..

The boxes on stoves don't get that hot unless you put too large of a pan on it and force the heat out into the box sides. 425's are notorious for this, 413's to a lesser extent. Watch big skillets! All of them will scorch if you're not paying attention and get carried away. I've measured mine and they only get up to about 140F. Regular old rattle can paints can handle that. The high temp paints will be flat, or the lesser high temp ones (ie, engine block and brake caliper) will have limited colors available. I do use VHT paint on the burners manifold and generator however. Make sure you have the box really degreased, clean and prepped for best paint adhesion. Doug

Thanks for the info Doug! I was always wondering how hot it got with normal cookware. I know when I do a rectangle pan for my ribs the body and sides get really hot since the pan is the same size as the burner grate on my 2 burner. I learned the hard way cause even with the feet extended it scorched a picinic table (whats that burning smell? ) so now it goes on a Coleman stove stand.
