Well this is the way she arrived – Dusty, sooty, and dirty to the core!

Time to take it to the cleaners – outside to the initial scrub bucket with degreaser and soap. To my surprise, the black began to scrub away and revealed a light brow olive color – the original color! After cleaning and disassembly it was time for things to go back together. Time now for a test burn – and burn she did!

Great job on that one! It looks identical to the Handy Chef from Sears that I have. Using a pre-warming cup is a bit different huh? Doug

Yep - But I cheated a little for the first burn - I used a propane torch to preheat the orifice!

I use denatured alcohol to preheat...doesn't flash like fuel can or burn sooty. No problem doing it your way though. Doug

One of the guy's at the Coleman campout used blue fondue fuel for pre-heating kero lanterns. The flame burns blue so you can see when it is burning.

Scott, I don't know if it's legal to have that stove living in Texas. I'll PM you my address so you can set it back home to Wisconsin. Nice job on the stove. Although you must be brave to test fire it on carpet in the garage.
