My New Water Boiler

Model 425, used little. This would have been an ultra-nice piece, but the seller didn't wrap the tank and it rattled around inside the stove during shipping. I'm gonna cook on a 3-burner I've recently acquired and use this for boiling water for coffee, dishes, etc. I've always wanted a stove with this tank style.

I also like the fact that the decal has no other icons in it nor any directions; just a good, clean, simple, Coleman. Wonderful!

Nice stove. I would like to get a stove with that style of tank also. Keeping my eyes opened around the local sales

That really is a sweet stove Chris! Nice to find one in that good of a condition, I would have bought it too! The straight 425 I got was really well "baked". Doug

The photos on the Coleman site show two different styles of legs. I prefer the ones in the top left photo, as the type with the 'sliders' gather dust/grit and malfunction or become hard-to-use after a bit.

Which ones does YOURS have, please? Do you know if they made a running change, or is it just a crap-shoot?

Thanks,
Kurt

The leg sections screw on, they don't slide out. The leg sections are stored under the table tops. I did notice that Coleman started putting a stabilizer bar between the short sections in the new picture that doesn't exist in the other pictures (the upside down U bar in the end legs).

Coleman Dot Com

These legs are the style of the legs on my table... a friend was over the other day and leaned slightly on one of the half-tables. I was dismayed to see how much the legs flex near the plastic screwjoints...

Like Dawn mentioned, these tables are versatile... and you can never have too many tables when you're camping! The wife and I picked up our table at Target and for noticeably less than what Coleman's webpage lists.

Thanks for the nice comments on the stove. Yes! it was hard to pass on that one.

I also have a KampKook like that one. Can you tell me what the knobs do? I have yet to figure out how to properly burn it. I can get it to fire and burns nicely. But not for long. Tank holds pressure until I use it.

But has been a while since I last tried it.

Randy,

I got the thing to run right after I got it home with the old fuel in it. Hate to admit this but I don't even know the correct way to get fuel into the tank! The pump unscrews easily enough but when I dumped fuel in there it ran in very slowly (as if it has to pass by the check valve!)

Since it's mostly as snow day maybe I'll go out and play with it. If I remember it right the knob on the front acts just like a Coleman - controlling the fuel flow. The knob on the side acts like the starting lever on a Coleman. Maybe you left the starting knob in the "start" position and bled all your pressure down? Not sure. I'll try to run mine today if I get a chance.

Eric

I got my KampKook out today for the first time in over 9 months. Tank still had pressure in it, so it is fine.

To put fuel in it the big knob about the pump rod unscrews and the whole thing comes out, pump rod and leather inside of the pump cylinder. Should not be any aluminum knob left on the tank. If just the pump rod and leather comes out you still have the cylinder to remove.

I pumped it up and fired it up and after a bit turned the left black knob off and now she is burning fine. I put the kettle on and heated up some water for tea. Now it is simmering with a full kettle of water.

Thanks Eric.

I really like the rounded style of the KampKook and would like to take it camping. Seems to put out as much heat as my 425, if not more. But looks so much Kooler. Would go good with Doug's bread loaf.

Of course I would have to get use to cooking on the left side.
