Hi, Johnny:

Your pictures show that you do beautiful work. It looks like you're going to have door access to your galley on the sides? That will be interesting. Will you also have access from the back/front?

Thanks Sharon: The storage compartment will be accessed from either side of the TD. Pam did plan on having a slider at the lower foot well inside the cabin. I am not going that way because there will be no way to insulate that bulkhead. So I will just have access from the storage compartment. The inside walls and ceiling will be insulated so it will pay to do that lower bulkhead as well. I will add a cabinet inside the TD that will have plenty of storage. Now I think I should have named it the "Storage Shed". LOL

I will use the center of the upper shelf of the storage compartment to build a cabinet that will be used to hold pots and pans and other cooking utensils.
It will be accessed from the galley side. ;)

OK, Here is an update for you. I worked on the "Road Towed" yesterday. I was not able to post pictures last night. I was installing the bulkheads that I made up last week. Some of them were already assembled when I got the TD from Pam M. I did the rest. I still have more to make.

Hi Shaun: I never thought of me being a fleet owner... I just wish I had one of theses things done so I can go camping. I guess I will have them done about the same time.

I want everyone to know that this is Pam M's "Miss Independence TD. she started last year. She got tired of the time it was taking to build her TD and she bought a new Little Guy and now she is able to go camping. I bough this one from her and I will finish it up. I hope it will turn out OK.

Take care and have a good one! ;)

Hey, No Fair!!! :o Now you're gonna have two done before I even get started on mine. Seriously though, this shows you what good karma can do for you. You started off simply helping someone who needed a hand and some skills and you end up with a half completed TD.

Good for you!

atahoekid: I have been only working on this TD one day a week. I have helped quit a bit on this TD before I got it.
Karma is a good thing! I put it out there and it always finds it's way back to me. :)

The "Road Towed" has another person working on it the last few days. Terry, my girlfriend has been getting all of the inside amenities ready for the TD. She has made up the curtains, pillow cases and the bed spread for it. She bought all of the material for the interior fabric for $10 from a thrift store here in Reno.

The bottom picture is a big stuffed toad that is the inspiration for the "Road Towed".

Update, 02-22-2011

Postby down under tech » Tue Feb 22, 2011 10:21 am

OK, I got more of the bulk heads done over the week end. I also built the cabin cabinet face frame and I got it installed. The last piece of the inner ceiling is now installed as well. I need to build the shelves for the cabinet still.

The top bulk head between the cabin and storage compartment.

This is the view of that wall from the rear of the TD.

Image

The smaller openings at the top of the frame are for the stereo and speakers. The two outer holes will hold the speakers. The center opening is where the stereo will be placed. The openings to the right and left of the stereo will just be filled in. I have pieces of white bead board panel for all of the openings at the top and the stereo and speakers will be mounted into them. I recessed the back side of the openings to give it a lip for the bead board to set in. I hope it will look good in there against the red oak cabinets.

More to come later. Stand by...

Beautifull work as always.

Neat pillow cases and continuation of the Road Towed theme.
Greetings from England.

Rian.

Hoping to get it all done in time.

Update, 03-27-2011

Postby down under tech » Sun Mar 27, 2011 10:57 pm

Hello Everyone... I have not been able to work on either of the TDs in the last five weeks. I spent two weeks working in Las Vegas doing the same thing I do in Reno for a living. The weather here has been rather **ity with cold and snow. I did get to work on the "Road Towed" today. There was not much progress, but some is better than none. I made up the shelves for the inside cabinets and I cut out the inserts for the top of the face frame. This is where the stereo and speakers are going to reside. I will add two 110 volt A/C outlets and two 12 volt D/C outlets there too. The pictures show the white bead board that I used.

The face frame is up-side down in these pictures. The white inserts will be at the top of the frame when installed in the TD.

*** "NOTICE" *** I have asked my girlfriend Terry to marry me next month. April 16th to be exact. We are setting it up ourself with help from family and friends. Everything is taken care of and accounted for. Terry has her wedding dress and I got fitted for my tux yesterday. It takes a lot of time and money to get things ready for a marriage as I am sure you all know. I will post some pictures of the event after we do get hitched.

I hope all is going good for all of you out there! ;)
