How about you pull the wheels and put it on a couple dollies. And by the way, it's looking good.

Gage...I can get it out...I'm just wanting to make sure I can run it in and out of the garage at will without having to do a lot of work on it. When I finish up a trailer, they typically get prime spot in the garage for a year or so. After that, it's in the smaller storage garage....after that, it's off to someone elses garage.....Doug

PS...I would have loved to have that stove/oven combo in aqua that was in your Santa Fe!

Tell me about it. Marianne won't let me have them back. You can get a 'Tonka' aqua/turquoise shaker paint that is real close. That's what I'm painting my ice box and stove top with. I'm making a stove top hood that will also be painted to match.

Doug,

Changing the angle on the flexiride is pretty easy. You just need a BAW (Big A$$ Wrench) to get a 1-1/4" bolt off. The first time is pretty tough because they really torque them down from the factory. Mine was settling a little so I raised it an 1" or so.

Bruce....so how much lift/drop do you get per spline on the shaft? Any thoughts? Thanks. Doug

Doug,

One spline isn't very much. I probably moved it about 5 to 6 splines to change it an inch. I used a level to mark the position of the arm on the frame and then I drew a mark an inch below that. I lined the arm up with the lower mark when I put it back on. One thing I noticed on our trailer is that it wasn't level from side-to-side because there's more weight on on side than the other. The flexiride made it easy to level the trailer.

The Flexiride drawings show 6 degrees per spline and with a 4.5" arm that gives a shade under 0.5" movement per spline when the arm is nearly horizontal - obviously it's less as the arm moves away from horizontal, down to 0.3" per spline with the arm at 45 deg.

Thanks Andrew! I"m at 0 degrees now, once it squats down on the axle in it's finished weight, I can maybe get by with a minor adjustment. Doug

Ouside stripe?

Postby John T. Hodgen » Mon Jan 04, 2010 2:04 pm

Hey Doug,
Since you are calling it "the Nomad" and it has a color of a '55-'56
Chevy, what kind of exterior custom job are you thinking? IMO a
'57 aluminum panel(paint) as on the car fins with the stripe resembling the cars trim to the front wood be Kool!! And have Nomad flow cut out of stainless and polished above the stripe in front by the end of the (trim)But then you'd have to have a '55/'57 chevy to pull it with but so cool and your boat would look great behind that Chevy too!!
Til later by the fire--John T. & Linda
