53: Stainless Steel Micro-Airstream behind motorcycle

Postby ST1100 » Sun Dec 01, 2013 5:17 pm

The last weekend I mounted the small LED rear/brakelight units and the LED indicators to the sheet and soldered all together.
The wires are connected inside two little boxes left and right of the lasagne dish.

Today I bent the lower bar inside the stern sheet, fixed the sheet with clecos to the trailer and clamped the bar inside the sheet to drill the holes.

Her you can see the sheet from inside after drilling.

After deburring all the holes, I clecoed it all together and began setting the rivets. Here it is finished.

Then turned the trailer. Next step is to build the wheel houses to finish the platform trailer.
But that continues next weekend :)

Cold wind and snow outside, so first of all I stuffed my wooden garage doors with styropor, so I can work there over the winter.

The sleeping box will become too big to get it out of my warm and dry room upstairs.
So I have to continue here outside with warm cloth and cold fingers.

First step today is to cut the wheel arch with a hand saw. Perfect cut, deburred and three holes drilled to rivet it into place.

Then cut four angles from a piece of aircraft duraluminum to join the wheel arch from inside the wheel house with the lower front and stern bars.

Image

Then riveted the first side together.

Then cut the second wheel arch and fitted it in the same way into the other wheel house.

Image

That was the last piece of aluminum at the base trailer.

Image

Next weekend I will cut the stainless covers for the wheel houses and get more rivets to finish both sides.
Today I ran out of rivets.

Looking good Tom.

Hope your stay warm. My Puppy and I are wrapping bundled up for warmth, it snowing tonight, my lights in my shop will not stay on, just flicker. No work out there until spring for me.

Found finally at iibay a stainless ball with 60 cm (2 ft) diameter for an affordable price (120 Euro).

From that ball I will cut the four upper corners for my trailers skin. :D

No problems with sealing seams !

Would you have a link for the SS ball ? It might be useful
to someone on another forum I know of.

Cheers,
