That is so true, but I don't want to give them the opportunity to say, "One tail light must have been out because the ONE I saw wasn't lit." No one will admit that it was their fault even when it is. I'll nip the "I didn't see him" excuse right in the bud.

My thoughts exactly. Hence the reason for this. If you don't see that in front of you then you deserve it when I punch you in the head. 8)

For all of you worried about seeing only one tail light when following. I took this picture from 8' behind and as far over as the house would allow.
Image
note a portion of the tail light is still showing. A safe following distance would give you a much better view of both tail lights (this one and the one yet to be installed).

Took time off to fix my brothers volvo (at least part of it). Started back on my tear, with cutting out for the other taillight.
Image
Started to fit it, but not finished.

Roughed in the second taillight.

Had to take a break from fiberglass, been working on my subaru. The subaru looks cool with half a two inch lift under it.

Now both taillights are cut flush with the body. I am now working on the tag for the trailer.
Image
Of course the tag will be turned around, after cutting out a recess.

I finished one of my light modifications.
Image
blue dots. Let us see when I get up the nerve to drill the other one. Already broke one tail light, and wally world only sells the complete assembly ($6 bucks shot down).
Fiberglassed around my non perfect seams (why I must paint). I like fiberglass (relativity) when you can add enough filler so it stays were you put, and does not run off.

ps now Aunti M's bubble level should hold till next time.

It's good to see a guy getting on with the really important stuff, and not wasting time on incidentals like the body........

lense hole

Postby S.A.Mike » Tue Jul 31, 2007 2:05 pm

howdy del on the subject of putting a hole in the plastic tail light lense you might try using a 1/2 inch drive socket...not sure of the size of your blue dot .Just use one that measures the same size of hole you need. Heat it pretty warm not too hot and use it to melt a hole.it has worked for me before. You may want to put the socket on an extension..no burn fingers that way. Also a peice of pipe or tubing will work.

 8) Thank you so much Del. Everytime I see that I wish I could get a closer look. All the pictures in the world won't fix that. Sure wish you would get to the hatch part so I can see... ;)

Ah the hatch, soon. Have to study up on how Auntie M did hers first. True fully I need to do a little more fiberglass. Can only do so much in one session, than I work on

I wish it had gone on like the other side! So hopefully I can fix the buckle after the glue dries, other wise run across the street, and across the churches field screaming.

del

Now is time to fix the buckle, it goes like this sand fill, next day sand and fill......
Image
Repeat sand fill....

del

ps I am filling the low spots with fiberglass and a sandable filler, I know it is a weird purple color.
