Thanks, I appreciate it.
I figure I have to motivate myself to get at least one task done a night on it.
Weekdays after work have me a bit worn out many times but I figure that even a little bit of work each night will save a lot of work on the weekends when I have more time to major work.
Tomorrow I hope to cut out front, tailgate, and the center of the roof.
Might try to cut a few spars out and a few framing members.

Even if I only cut out one piece a night right now, that's still three pieces ahead for the weekend assembly.

Minor setback tonight.
Kerosene heater in the garage had a meltdown, fire department just left.
Lost half of my hand tools and probably half of my work.
Ugh.

Wow not good, could have been lot worse I'm sure....very lucky but sucks at the same time. So what's up with the Kerosene heater to have a meltdown ?

Fire inspector said it looks like the regulator malfunctioned, dumped the fuel, and it ignited, being so close to the burning pot.
It was an old style kerosene trailer heater, manual light unit

There wasn't much left of the regulator or lines, lots of wiring cooked, garage door opener shot, many plastic items melted.

Ouch! Glad to hear your ok.

I don’t know what would be worse. Lose most of your hand tool in a fire or have them stolen like another
build on this forum had this month. Hope you get back to “Situation - Normal “ as soon as possible.

Talked to the insurance company today.
Assessor will be out tomorrow.
They'll be giving me a quote on the prospective costs and then I look for a contractor.

They're also telling me that my tools will be replaced, so not as bad as being stolen.

Wooo a few more feet to the left, and boom, Two gas cans and some oils containers.

Half a wall, some roof work and you're good to go. Hopefully you in a area where you can fix the rafters
instead of replacing then.

Luckily everything was contained within half an hour, everything was checked, verified, and inspected and everyone left at about 3:00 AM.
Insurance company has been good so far, fast response, higher estimate than I thought, plus my personal belongings are covered separately.
I have to inventory everything that's loose in there for personal belongings. Tons of stuff got melted, saturated, or smoke damaged.
More than I thought at first but the heat was pretty impressive, containers of expensive Audi gear oil, G12 coolant, all my lubricants and such, the boat is toast, the engine hoist got fried, seals are shot on the piston, patio umbrella and chairs, tires on my bicycle are glazed.

Need to pull it all out, inventory it all, and put in a claim.
Also need to call a couple of contractors and get them out here to look at it and then get working on it.
Insurance company shows that they will replace all the damaged structure, fix the garage door and windows, replace the opener, replace all the burned timbers and siding and roofing, replace the heater, and clean it all up and paint it.

I have to clean out my basement and bring things down there and get back to work on the teardrop. This puts me a couple of weeks behind depending on what work I have to redo but I should still be able to make my deadline.

When is the show? I rebuild mine from basically where you're at, to camping ready - in a matter of months, but I only worked on it on Saturday or Sunday each week. I still need to complete the cabinets and install the trim, but I've camped in it once. :)

Don't give up hope!

Show is May 4th, I should be able to easily get the camper at least sleepable by then.
It may not be optimal if I don't get the new springs on the trailer but I can at least bolt on the stabilizers and swap the tires.

You never quite know how much stuff you have until you have to replace it.
I started on the basic cleanup and inventory...
Fire, smoke, and water to a hell of a job on things.
Even things that didn't get burnt are rusting, expanded, or smell so badly of smoke that it's not worth keeping.
I'm not claiming my drill bits but they smell like smoke and they were in a case! The case was ruined.
I thought my saw horses were OK until I brought them out into the light. The ones that weren't burnt are rusting, smoke damaged, or crushed.

I've got the day cut out for me.
