Tom, I think you are going to need an instruction manual. Of course, my brother is wiring mine, as I have no clue.
Really like those tail lights...

Tom, your trailer is going to be awesome! The aluminum exterior is so shiny, you won't need to bring a mirror and your trailer's running lights look better than professional ones! :applause:

:o Baby Boy! I like your configuration of the lights! ! ! You must be the most patient man on the planet, I woulda ripped the protecto plastic off from the joint down on that one! I totally understand your reasoning and you are smarter than me in that area, I just couldn't resist if it were me!

By the way I like the way the hatch joint looks even though it wasn't in the original plan, it really gives it that aircraft look to me.

How are you going to get greasy handprints all over with all that blue plastic? I could teach you a thing or two about that.

I put over 5000 miles on the Northwestern and I still have cleaned off the finger prints!

Joking aside - It's looking really great!!!

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the two thumbs up.

We had hoped to be camping too. But...I now am aware of what you said about trimming out the camper. I've spent two months of weekends, and am still not done. At least I'm in the home stretch now although I won't be able to work on the teardrop for the next two weekends.

I need to swing by your home some weekend and see your finished WW TTT.

So LCG is tenting or just going in minimal camping mode? I hope you still can go.

Thomas,

We're going with our trailer....our HF utility trailer. :? (I'm hauling all of our camping gear on it.) Today, I repacked the bearings and changed out the seals on it, so it is good to go. I just need to find our tent and screen room now.

I can't wait to see ya there!

Tom, everything about your teardrop build is top-shelf. Absolutely quality work.

But the lastest visual zinger, for me, anyway, is that bitchin'-looking quadruple-'39 Ford tail light arrangement.

100% unique! using a very traditional, obviously, tail lamp. Well done!

After a wonderful time at LCG V, it was time to get back to work on the Beatle. First though, a gratuitous picture of my wife Linda at LCG (Lake Bisteneau State Park minus the lake).

Image

When I go to bed at night, I dream about installing aluminum trim. It seems that is all I have done for about six weekends now. Nearing the end of the trim work, aluminum strap was installed at the lower edge of the hatch.

Image

I had previously hung the doors, but had removed them to install t-molding. With the t-molding done, it was time to re-install the doors. First, though, I made some spacers out of 1/8" nylon. The spacers will offset the door to leave room for door seals. This picture shows the installed hinge and spacer.

Image

I'm happy with the way the doors came out.

Image

Next up - fender installation. I am using stainless steel carriage bolts installed through the sidewalls to fasten the fenders. This picture shows the carriage bolts ready to be installed in the galley portion of the sidewall. (The heads of the carriage bolts were earlier painted black.)

Image

This shows the carriage bolts in the cabin of the teardrop.

Image

And here is an outside shot of the carriage bolts ready for the fender.

Image

I didn't get any pictures of it, but earlier I had used weatherstrip adhesive to attach rubber fender welting to the fender. After some sealant was applied around the carriage bolts, I fastened the fender using washers and nylock nuts.

Image

The carriage bolts were a little too long so, I cut the extra length off with a grinder and cut-off wheel, and then re-installed the wheel and tire.

Image

One down - one more fender to go, but that will have to wait until this weekend.

 Gig'em, Tom

Just leafed through the last few pages of your build. I like the look of it and I like your template approach. That's something I'll keep in mind as I build. I'm going to have to look through the entire thread. I'm sure you've probably already answered the question but where did you find those hinges? If you'd prefer, and if you get a chance just PM me.

thanks,

Mel
