OK legend lime, I'm calling a time out on ya - now go and sit in the corner for a awhile - you know that it HAS NOT been five weeks past your trip home from having a kidney removed and you're out working in the shop  Remember not lifting anything over 10 lbs??? Not be a worry over this but I remember how good i felt after a hernia surgery - then went lifting a few things a few weeks after 'cause i felt that i could feel the strain - and ruptured it again. Going through the second surgery certainly wasn't any fun either (and my surgeon certainly had to be convinced that I wasn't going to do anything so foolish again) I learned when My build was going on and had surgery on my leg - wait till the DR gives the go ahead - pain meds can certainly make you feel better than you really are.

Hi Stewart
Your right it'll be four weeks this Sunday but the Dr did tell me to as much walking as I wanted I have walked the mall three times done three antique stores from front to rear so I feel that holding a 2LB sander and walking around this table for about three hours a day (as long as I dont pick up anything over 10Lbs) is good therapy and my wife keeps a close eye on me to make sure I don't lift anything heavy. And your right about feeling good and doing some you shouldn't and windng up back in the hospital. As for getting the wall installed after I finish the Urethane it will be an all hands on deck I have several individuals lined up to lift and hold it while I install the screws but that will be some time in the middle of January. :)

Thanks for the butt chewing and I'll be carefull wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

LT wall installed over the weekend

Postby legend lime » Mon Jan 02, 2012 9:11 pm

Well I finished the LT wall Friday and called for all hands on deck three showed up and they were able to left it as I installed the screws at the bottom. ince then I have been working on the rear of the trailer this area will be completely enclosed with access from the inside so I'll be able to get to the water pump and the battery as the area above the water heater and all the way accross the back will be stroage for the inside. The table is the one that came with the Dinette set that I am not going to use I just put in place to get an idea of the height.

Roof Started

Postby legend lime » Sun Jan 08, 2012 5:59 pm

Thanks Woodstramp and Sharon

Well with the good weather we've have this week I've been able to get a lot done as you can see from the pics I have started on the roof and bathroom wall. The Roof is being temp built on the trailer it will be removed and installed after I get the trailer out of the shop. I don't have enough door clearance to leave it on and be able to pull it out. With the roof off and the drom brakes sitting on dollies I have 2" of clearance to pull'er out.

Here's a few new pics from Wednesday and Thursday was able to get a lot done went to the big orange box Wednesday and picked up 28 2x4's and 10 more 1x4's but when I got home there was no place to store them down stairs by where the work is going on. and the upstairs in my shop was just as bad so after five hours of pulling out all the old scraps left over from other projects past that I never found a need to use and burning them in the burn can I can now start to fill the upstairs back up. Thursday I was able to get all but one of the rafters cut and installed, got up this morning and its 24 degrees so no work today.

Thanks Paul
I feel really great, it’s scary you would think that you should be more tired during the day or not feel like eating or drinking like I was use to but now that’s it been 6 weeks since the surgery I just can’t believe how good I feel. Other than the sore muscles and bones and the end of the day life is good.

As a fellow "LT" owner (Mine was the Luxury Tent) I love the job you are doing and making it a woodie too! Just remember one thing END GRAIN... Seal it good! That is 10X more important than anything else.

Looks awesome!

Temp building

Postby legend lime » Sat Jan 28, 2012 7:53 pm

Hi Everyone
Thanks Cliff and Thomas

Well I pulled of working on the trailer Thursday to get ready to build this temporary 24 x 12 x 12 enclosure so that I can take the roof off the trailer that I installed in the shop move the trailer out of the shop and into this Temp building and reinstall it for finishing.

Last Sunday I ordered 80 2x4x12 PT studs from the big orange box store they came Monday I spent Tuesday and Wednesday getting everything cut to size and stacked so that when my wife’s uncle and his son came Thursday all we would have to do is start nailing man I love Nail Guns. They pulled in the drive way at 10:00 AM and at 5:00 PM they were on their way home I still have to install the lag bolts around the bottom plates and remove the two 2x4’s that we used to keep the walls apart and square. I was going to order one of those garage-in-a- box but the biggest I could get was 20Lx12Wx12H but it only had an 8’ door and I would have to build three 2’ walls to sit it on so I could get the trailer out after I installed the roof plus they wanted $599.99 for it on sale. I only have $500.00 total in this temp building and when I done building the trailer I plan on taking it apart and using the studs to close in the wall supporting the lean-to and the back wall;
ah but now you are saying to yourself why didn’t he just close in the lean-to wall to start with, well after doing the calculations it would have taken $800.00 with the siding I would have had to install now and taken three days to complete. Here are a few pics of the building and some new ones of the trailer.

It took me 4 1/2 hours to bend and glue up this small section of 3/16th plywood everytime I would turn the screw s on the clamps I just knew it was going to split but it didn't. I now have all the clamps and supports off and it hasn't popped off the rafters yet. :dancing:
