Len, I've read your tutorial on creating aluminum siding using an aluminum brake - excellent. Also, I've studied the pictures in your last post. I cannot figure out how you got a continuous 13' run of siding from an aluminum brake when they usually come in 8.5' or 10' lengths. Would you share your technique for creating 13' runs of siding or explain how you overlap shorter runs making them invisible and water tight? Thanks.

Al, Thanks for the kind words.

There aren't any 13' pieces on this trailer. This is a 13' Hilander. Not a 15'er. A copy of the original HiLander prototype. The longest piece is 10' 6"

They only made one.

But back to the siding.

I have a 10' Brake which is actually 10'6".

I have made siding longer but its a real PITA and you need about 4 sets of hands on things to do so. By doing one end and then reversing it and doing the other. I wouldn't recommend it. Lots of chances for mistakes.

I've done up to a 14' length.....Once! And I had to remove one of the "C" brackets from the Brake. Again, a real PITA.

I have seemed it as shown in the tutorial, but it doesn't look good.

Happy Trails

Very impressive! What is the material you are using inside on the ceiling?

Took my 13' HiLander out for a "Shake Down Cruise" today. First time on the road. A little 15-16 mile trip, Nothing fell over or off so thats a good thing.

Back in the shop for a good detailing and clean up then get things ready for Camping next weekend at French Creek with TearJerkers.

Would you mind commenting on a couple of questions?

1. What grade and thickness of plywood did you use for the deck?

2. Do you do anything special to prepare the plywood other than 'tarring' it? Do you seal the edges with poly or other?

3. What do you use for your black tar?

Thanks for sharing !

A few little bits & Pieces to do today but the deck will be totally done by Tonight, Sunday Night.....right on Schedule.

On to the Profile.
