Tom - that Butyl tape will flow out for a few days until it finally sets - My windows did the same thing. I waited about a week and trimmed off the what squeezed out with a sharp blade.

Thanks Scot,

I though the butyl tape might do that but wasn't sure. I'll install my other window at least by this weekend. Then I'll wait one week to trim of the excess, probably followed by a bead of sealant. And then, I guess its time to hook her up and head off to Oklahoma.

Take care,
Tom

Tom

The extra bead of sealant is just for insurance - believe me - that stuff flowed both ways and made an excellent seal ;)

On my first rain covered camping trip I had some leaks, I fixed the roof vent issues with clear silicone sealant. Stays permanently flexible and is clear so you can't see it, you might consider that for that extra insurance sealant!

It looks great!!!

No more blue plastic film!

I took a vacation day today to work on the Silver Beatle.

After I installed the last of the two windows and door seals, I couldn't stand it any longer.

I had to see what she was going to look like. So, my wife joined me in pulling off the blue film that was protecting the aluminum. Then I noticed the tires were still blue, so I cleaned off the film on the whitewalls, and installed the trim rings and moons. I gave the SB a quick rinse with the hose and....ta da:

I still need to clean up the sealant and remove the gunk from the plastic film, but needless to say I haven't felt this pround about the Silver Beatle in a long time.

Gig'em,
