That looks truly excellent!

Be ready for the questions:

Where'd you get it?
YOU BUILT IT?
How much to build us one?
You really built that?
Is it for sale?

Et cetera...

Truly fabulous - you're inspiring me to get going on our build(s). Come on good weather!

Great build and job Tom. You have every right to be proud buddy. Hope when I get to my build I end up with something similar in looks. Looks like what I have in mind with a couple mods.

Congratulations Tom! :applause: 8)

The classic lines, the finish, it's all beautiful. You're going to be giving a lot of tours with that in tow!

It's been a couple of weeks since I last updated the build thread. There's not much to show, though. Most of the work was last minute details to get the Silver Beatle campable for her first camping trip.

I installed the rubber draw latches for the galley hatch. (I also plan to add a lockable hasp some time in the future.)

Image

For flooring, I used those interlocking exercise mats - easy to install, removable, and provides some additional cushioning underneath the mattress.

Image

The return air grill and cleat for the interior cabinet was installed, as well as the interior ceiling light and vent fan surround.

And finally, the tongue box was finished and installed.

She's still not finished, but we did make our first South Central gathering at Beavers Bend State Park this past weekend!

Take care,
Tom

I love your use of the black trim and galley hatch clamps and door frame screws, it gives it a really nice offset!

I am using those same mats in my teardrop too (from the Christmas teardrop gathering's Secret Santa).

Hi Tom,

I've been trying to come up with something new to say about the Silver Beatle, but am still at a loss for words. Is Ultra-wow a word?

Congratulations on a job well done, I can't thank you enough for the documentation in your build journal. I now consult it before I tackle another area of my build. Should have started doing that long ago.

You are to be commended for not only your build and journal but also your many, many contributions to the forum. I see you answering questions and offering support to so many. Any forum would be honored to have you as a member.

Tom congratulations on making Beavers Bend, no doubt the maiden voyage was exciting for you and Linda.

Your attention to detail shows throughout the build, I really like the way the woodgrain lines up as it breaks across the door frame in this shot.
Image

I absolutely love the treasure chest look of the tongue box, that turned out very nicely.

Where did you find the hatch latches? Sorry if I missed it posted elsewhere.
