Simple Maryland 5 wide build

Postby JTROBB » Sat Feb 02, 2013 7:13 pm

I have a good start and have 2 complete walls. Need to connect them with roof bows and the floor.

That's a solid start, good luck!

I obtained a cheap trailer yesterday, it is a 5x8 jiffy trailer with 13 inch tires. started pulling the side off that the previous owner had made. I also made a jig and screwed the 2 sides with roof bows and floor joists. Is there any thing I need to check to make sure it is square before i glue it? All I have done so far to check square is a corner to corner measure.

No hitch, actually sold the locost 7 to move on to the next project. But the project I'm most proud of is the locost, 2 years and from scratch.

Glued the framing up tonight, looks the same so no new pics. Next step cutting and sliding the floor into the dado.

Nice progress! If you keep up the pace, you'll have it done in time to join a bunch of us for a gathering March 15-17, about an hour north of you in Street, Maryland. Theres going to be about 10-15 trailers, a BBQ cookoff, and a ton of fun! All the info is over on the Tearjerkers forum, under the Chesapeake Chapter. Even if you don't have it done, bring a tent or just stop out for the day

I don't think it will be done by then. I plan to fiberglass the exterior with a single layer of glass and there is a good chance the temperature will not cooperate. I may stop in for the day though just to check the tears out.

No new pics today, just trimmed the plywood for the interior roof to size and started cutting the inner roof bows.

Started to add the roof insulation today. Got through the better part of 2 sheets of insulation before I realized I could score and cut it like drywall.

No new pics tonight. Finished fitting foam for the roof and kerfed the hard angles. Epoxied the end grain on all the ply and was unable to open garage to take pics, trying to keep the heat in the garage so that the epoxy hardens.

Got a good start on the roof. still lots of drilling and screwing to go. Then time to pull it all off and glue it.
