Benroy build ireland

Postby donal94 » Thu May 23, 2013 3:42 pm

I'm starting this thread as I've finally gotten started on my teardrop. I've been lurking on this site and others for what seems like years now and after a number of aborted starts I've actually started in earnest now. Below are some photos of the chassis as I bought it and the beginnings of shortening it to the size I want which will be 8x5. I'm hoping to build as authentic a benroy possible and love the retro wine paint scheme so hoping to re create that too. Looking forward to getting plenty of advice as I go.ive already learned lots from this site.

More cutting, tomorrow hoping to weld up cuts and add a box section crossmember into the rear of the chassis.

Ok this is the last one, picture of cut out to bend chassis rails into new location for hitch. If I carry on posting pics like this I'll spend more time on the Internet than working on the trailer. I have a new 16x10ft shed arriving tomorrow morning, hoping to do a lot of the work indoors to avoid our lovely irish weather!

Just look at it this way donal94. There's less grass to cut.

Looks great by the way.

Very true about the grass, not much left. Going to paint shed and insulate etc at a later date. More off topic stuff as I was helping my brother on his truck today he's leaving Tuesday to drive around the world in this beast!! Hoping to get some work done on the trailer tomorrow.

Ok, no work of note on trailer today. I spent the morning adding a plinth to the shed as it looked awful on the blocks. Hoping to paint it tomorrow.

Nice Truck, Nice shed and nice chassis 8)
I've already done the round the world trip but not in a beast that size.
I have your new bed all loaded in the car and ready to go. At least you have a nice new shed to store it in now...see you in the morning.
Measure once, cut twice....throw away and repeat.

Great stuff thanks a million. What time are you thinking youll be on tje n7. Delijted woth the shed although it'll take a bit of getting used to as its reasonably big in the gar
den. Did a bit of wire brushing sanding on axle today but mainly enjoyed leinster kicking ulsters arses in the rugby whilst eating bbq and drinking a few beers in the sun. Not often you lget to say that in ireland
